I just got my assignment today. jones!
same college I stated at for owl days, im pretty excited about it!

wow that’s early. by mail or email?

mail this morning.

AHH im so jealous! i live in the northeast so i guess it’ll be a while.

Jealous of you and every Rice Owl that lives in Texas! =]

I hope I get mine before I leave for my vacation. It would be nice to know.

Hey, I stayed at Jones, too!

I want to know so badly. =[

Welcome to the best college at Rice!!

hi everyone. i’m still anxiously waiting for the mail too! i’m asking a question for a friend who doesn’t have an account. she’s worried that she won’t be placed in the same college with people that she knows.

in case a person gets a residential college they don’t want, can they switch it? should she call rice to emphasize how much she wants to be with a specific college (where she already knows some students), before they finish mailing the decisions?

If your friend wanted to be in the same college as people she knew, she had an opportunity to request to be in the same college as them when she filled out the residential college form.

I’ve heard it’s hard to switch colleges and I don’t see why you would want to. She’ll meet people in her college and get to know them. She shouldn’t set herself up like that =

College assignments have already been made and will not be changed. Honestly, though, if I were your friend I would prefer to be placed in a different college than my friends. That will make it easier for her to meet people outside of her own college and expand her group of friends.

i wish the colleges would all email us … it’s so frustrating that they know and we don’t!

Trust me, the coordinators are excited for you to find out too. There’s just something special about getting a letter rather than an email, though.

that isnt ever gonna help. just deal with it. its so much easier than trying to switch

Hey, I got assigned to Jones College too! However, I’m a transfer so I didn’t get housing.

BTW, does anyone know if Rice provides a place to stay at the university during O-week? Something I read seemed to indicate that; just want to know what I’m suppose to do.

Yes, you will live in your college during O-Week.

^ yeah. you stay in a upperclassmans room for oweek.

I got into Brown but I’m not excited about it, is that wrong?

why would you not be excited? Brown is like one of the most awesome colleges on campus

This is why I dislike people discussing it too much. people start to choose colleges without knowing anything about them… just trust me. Brown is amazing and you will enjoy it

If you’re not feeling the excitement now, don’t worry too much. Believe me, by the second day of O-Week any negative thoughts will be a thing of the past.

Yay Brown College!!! I was hoping for one of the new residential colleges at first (Duncan or McMurty), but now I’m very excited about Brown after seeing the pictures!!
