<p>I got this email a few days ago and I'm just wondering if I'm really lucky or if prospective students around the country have something similar. The letter is:</p>

<p>The Admissions Office would like to extend an invitation to you and your family to join some of our local alumni at an evening reception with Dartmouth's 17th President, Dr. Jim Yong Kim. If you are able to attend, RSVP directly to Alumni Relations using the contact information listed below. If you have any questions, please reply directly to this email. We hope you and your family will be able to attend!</p>

<p>The Dartmouth Club of Washington, D.C. and the Office of Alumni Relations cordially invite you to an evening with</p>

<p>President

<p>and then some stuff about details.</p>

<p>There are a lot of Alumni Clubs that will throw events for prospective students. The Dartmouth Club of NY few a couple and former President Wright was at one of them. Its not “exclusive” but at the same time it is a lot of fun to talk to Alumni who are super excited to meet you guys. (And it makes it easier for the President to get alumni to donate more)</p>
