Anyone else retaking?

Ended up with wonderful scores in writing and critical reading but ended up being screwed over in math, easily my best section.

Definitely not satisfied with my math score. Will be retaking it

I would be happy with a 2260, but just having the prospect of such a low math score (in comparison to my other sections) just *****s all over this achievement. Breakdown was 750/720/790 (11essay)

You cocky *****… that’s a great score many wish they could have

Would you feel satisfied given that you could have done much better on your best section? I was extremely happy with my writing/reading scores. Math is my best section too, so the fact that it came out to be my worst was just flabbergasting.

I have edited my post to make it more moderate.

I"m thinking about retaking aswell , but i’m not sure if it’s needed. I got 640w , 640cr and 730math and i’m not native to english ( essentially it’s my third language ). For the january test I had about 2 weekends to study due to millitary duty , this proved a set back , but i’m also not sure that I will have enough time to study next time. I guess I should add that it’s my third SAT and i’m aiming to ivy level ( I have good extracariculors and fine subject scores ). So , should I even bother to take another one?

Xsyzzz I would definitely retake if it you feel that you have the english skills to do so. ESPECIALLY if you feel that you underperformed in your own opinion. Was it the first time you took the test?

2280 {CR 730, M 760, WR 790} and I’m probably gonna retake. I’m surprised too because math is my best section too…

This was my first time btw.

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC

i already have signed up for march, so i feel as if i might as well take it. i got a 2210 on this test which i am extremely happy with, but i have the same problem as you, being that math is my best section and i ended up doing the worst in it. i doubt my reading or writing scores will change on the next test but i know that my math can increase seeing as i made very careless mistakes. so getting a higher math will improve superscore overall, so i think you should take it again if you really want to push for a better score in that section

I’m retaking a fairly high score. I truly think I can do better.

@LoseYourself are you considering “do better” in the superscore sense, or the overall score sense? I saw your previous post where you said you were retaking a 2350.

Improving upon a 2350 in an overall sense would be very hard. (In a superscore sense, not so much) Good luck.

My superscore is just a 2360. I’ve gotten 800 on CR during practice a few times, so I think it’s within reach. It’s not like I’m going to be studying extensively for it.

ALL OFYOU BE QUIET. I got a 1520 and I don’t know what to do. I would do anything to have any of your scores.

@LoseYourself good luck with that! Hopefully nothing too random comes along your way while you take the test! I think your 2350 one-sitting score is still more impressive than a 2400 “super-score” but that’s just me I guess.

@bunny2015 is there anything in particular that troubles you with the SAT? math/reading/writing? Currently it seems like you’re only a freshman so you have a large room to improve (basing assumptions off 2015 in your name being graduation year)

Yeah for the same reason as you; I got the same exact math score and I feel like a gigantic idiot. I made the worst mistakes.

Ruining a well-in-reach 2300+ doesn’t feel good, does it?

Thanks for reaffirming my decision to retake with a 2280 in hand. Frankly I’m just in it for the superscore now, to even out my scores. (790 CR 690 M 800 W)

Hope to see you all around on the March SAT thread.

I am! I need a 2300+ but I only got 2180 (CR 800 M 700 W 680). The essay was too poor, an 8. I guess I am a bad writer! Funny I thought I was good on writing…sigh…

@jimmypod - It was my third time. The first one was horrible , the second one was lower on the cr and writing and higher on the math. Anyway I decided to continue doing the test until I either run out of time or get to at least the 700’s superscored in all 3 categories.

It shouldn’t hurt my chances if I have multiple tests done right?

guys my scores haven’t been released yet, what should I do ???

@thesmiter

I would have smacked you if you did not retake for a higher math score! My goodness (in my opinion) math is one of the easiest to RAISE/FIX. You had excellent reading/writing but an unbalanced math. Of course retaking would be the BEST thing to do.

@Xsyzzz

I think it depends on how many tests you take. If you take 3+ (from rumors I have heard) colleges begin to look down on your record. Totally a rumor though, so don’t take my word for it.

@jimmypod: Haha. I know I could’ve done better on the math section - I took too long on one section and ended up making crucial mistakes. I’m pretty confident in doing better, I just hope that my other scores won’t change too much.
