Anyone else totally burnt out?

It's been a rough year but lately things have been getting even worse!
my AP Bio class takes up like every spare minute I have, studying for tests that come like every week covering like 3-5 chapters each time. I work 4 days a week and its very tiring as well as frustrating because of some of the people I work with as well as managers who act like they are all powerful. My family life is very stressful and so is my personal life with friends. I am so busy every spare block of time I have is dedicated to taking AP Bio notes, reading for AP Lit, studying for tests, filling out college apps and sleeping/eating.

Now my AP Bio teacher decides to pile on the work right before and after Christmas, with like a test next week and projects due like this week and next week and the first week after vacation. Then my Teen Pep has us doing presentations 1st, 2nd and 3rd week of January and I have to memorize all 3 different presentations.

I feel like just shutting down and sleeping. Anyone else always telling themselves, "7 more months... 7 more months..."

I know how you feel. We're almost there- it'll get better.

Wow, your AP Bio class sounds intense. We have tests on units (3-5 chapters) every 3 or so weeks - not every week. That's out of control. What chapter are you on if you're going that fast?

We dont do like every single week but we have done tests week after week, then sometimes its a test this week, no test next week, then another test after that but its definately intense because we have lab monday/tuesday and we have projects/research assignments/oral presentations due this week and next week and 1st 2nd week of jan.

We're covering Chapter 15 (end of it),16,17 this week for a test on wednesday. We just had the test of 12,13,14, and beginning of 15 yesterday. We have 5 essay questions due this Thursday, research for a gene project due this FRIDAY, and reaction/research papers for a Bioethics project due this FRIDAY as well.

WOW! my AP bio class is sooooooo easy... I have a 97.5 at least.

We used to have slightly more than 1 test a week. probabyl 4 tests every 3 week. However, now we have slowed down to 1 test a week(grr we're screwed) because we hit a bunch of chapters in a row that are ~30 pages.

haha our ENTIRE class is notes+test. Weve only had one lab so far and no projects and i only spend about 4 hours a week on that class... last year, there were ~30 5s on the AP test out of 130 or so and everybody who had an A got a 5 so... apparently it works.

Ill probably study labs on my own before the AP test because it doesnt seem like my teacher will

Instead of "7 more months...," I tell myself "June is not far away, June is not far away."

My AP Chem teacher admitted that the way things are weighted in that class, it's almost impossible to raise your grade...and she designed it like that. So here I am, with an 88% for the whole quarter, getting A's on everything....staying at an 88%. Gosh, I really do hate teachers.

Every time you get to hate teachers.. remember how dumb they are:

A friend of mine had to write a paper for his psychology class, but he could not figure out how to begin. The teacher generously decided to write the first paragraph for him. This works, and he writes the rest of the paper.

He gets it back, graded. The first paragraph has been marked into oblivion. Grammar and sentence structure has been circled, as well as the age old comments: 'where is this going', or 'how is this significant' or 'explain'.

Upon being told that she was the one that wrote it, the teacher quickly takes an eraser, and removes the corrections from the first paragraph, saying: "I see how that could make sense, now."

True story. Sad, but true.

Oh man, how I hate AP Bio.... We are having an exam on ch.9-15 this Friday... That's SIX chapters of hardcore bio! And I am awful in science, I signed up for this course just b/c my GC told me to get into Mount Holyoke (my 1st choice and my ED) I need at least 1 AP course for my senior year so it will look good on my transcript.
I am so regretting it right now, I wish I had signed up for AP English instead. Oh yea, we are doing a lab tomorrow and we have 4 sheets of genetic problems due Friday... Plus I have a bunch of quizzes and test tomorrow and Friday.

Why do teachers always assign tests/quizzes/exams and project right before Christmas break? Just to make us suffer before we can have 10 days off from school (technically, it's not even a break since my teachers will pile us with project and hw to do over the vacation...)?

AP Chem is tough... I end up studying all the material on my own at home 4ever. I have a test I am very much regretting 2morrow, I just keeping thinking 1 low grade won't kill me lol. Also Honors Pre-Calc is crazy, half the class dropped out of it, I'm one of a few girls still in it. I am counting down til christmas break, I REFUSE to do ungodly amounts of hw over the time I have off. I'll do some, but not 2much. It isn't fair that we have to work all day at school than all of our free time at home. I don't know about u guys, but I need a break!

Read a stupid book, with a journal on each chapter, usually nine chapters a night, each night of the week.

Double sided worksheet, some book problems, and the teacher teaches the material the next day (after the homework is assigned)

One chapter every week, with study guide, vocabulary, and quizzes. You must meet 42/50 on the chapter exam to avoid having to do it all over again.

One project, every week.

Book problems every night, Usually with a lab every 3 days, and a test once a fortnight. Most often, RFUs (read, then take notes on each heading, and write 9 questions on the chapter) accompany any book reading (one-two chapters a week).

Can you guess it? AP English, AP Stats, AP Gov, German IV, Physics. On top of that, add in Wind Ensemble (and by default, pep band), and a senior project (that with the way my schedule worked out, I have to do on independantly, with no class time).

Next semester, I have seven classes.

On top of all this, both my parents work all night, and there are five other kids I have to keep from tearing each other apart until they get back.

Needless to say, I'm rather frazzled.

Oh yeah, on top of all that, we have to read "Jurassic Park". Thats not that bad though, I like reading. I'm taking AP Lit now and its cake.

But Bio... BIO...... AHHHHHHHHHH!! I study and study and study for the tests in that class and first marking period I ended up with a B (which isn't that bad cuz I thought I would fail for sure).

Darn. The seniors at my school are always saying AP Bio is cake! But I look at their work and I get so freaked out. I thought normal 9th grade Bio was hard. But in comparison... As my teachers love to say, they may be giving you all that homework to keep you off the streets. But... Good luck with that.

I'm really burnt out. I couldn't study for a test, got a D, and now I have a B- :(. I'm burnt out about school and work. I'm working 20-24 hours a week at Target, I'm being piled with homework and I'm having family problems. And social/academic issues at school. I feel constantly exhausted, I'm looking forward to Friday- the last day before the holiday break

school seems quite easier with my 4 ap's 1 honrs than last year with 1 ap, being ap EUROHELL. I'll probably take Ap bio next year. Hope i don't get fuxed.

Yes, AP Chem is defnitely hard. Hardest class I ever took in high school.

Hang in there everyone. At least you all something relatively close to look forward to. Back when I was a burned out senior, I kept telling myself similar things like, "June's almost here." And that kept me going because Senior year had what I thought were a lot of "fun" things attached to the end of it -- prom, graduation, college...

But now as a burned out college freshman, I can't really say to myself "just four more years" and have it help much...

june? my last day is may 27th. it feels so good to get out that early. i wanna get out of high school so bad. classes aren't terrible. only have 5 and an internship so days go by pretty quickly. graduation is on june 7.

my AP Bio moves fast. We have at least 1 test a week, sometimes 2. We're on chapter 16, and we spend about one or two days on a whole chapter and move on.

basically, I dont do anything in class, and talk, and then study hard the night before the test.

ap bio for me is ok, we have tests on 2 chapters about every 1.5 weeks. we're on bacteria genetics now, i dont know how behind/ahead we are, but my teacher says we're on track and should have plenty of time before the ap to review. hopefully he's right.

i fluctuate soooo much on ap bio tests. out of the 4 tests we've had this semester my grades were B, A, B-, A+ lol. our teacher grades incredibly hard. our class average on each test is like a C.

Luckily, my AP bio class is curved, and only the kids who think they're too stupid for physics take it (except me, because I took both) so all I have to do is work hard enough to beat everyone else.
