Anyone else waiting on grants

DS’s bursar account is still missing $25,000 in Cornell grants…is anyone else seeing this? He will speak to FA today but I’m wondering if anyone here is experiencing this too.

Hi!

I’m also missing my FA award. On the class of 2019 page, a lot of us have still not received our grants. A couple of people called today and were told that the FA was still being processed. So no, you’re not the only one experiencing this.

That is a relief to hear, thanks!

DS is on hold with the FA office right now… “We are experiencing a high call volume right now.” Ya think? :stuck_out_tongue:

On my bursar bill, it gives a credit for the amount pending for the grants so I guess they are on their way! I’m assuming that haven’t been disbursed yet, but will soon. Last week I paid the balance we owed and I see that amount credited to my account as well, so now we are square for the fall term, as my balance shows zero due. (and my bank account does, too!!)

Yes, everyone should still be waiting on their grant money. If you look in the financial aid package there is a disbursement schedule. It appears (from mine) that most grants should be paid out between the 14th and 17th. As stated in the bursar information, you only have to pay the amount not covered by pending aid by the 7th. Work study is the only exception to this, the amount allotted for the student to earn in work study is not credited prior as it is not guaranteed or required. You have to pay it up front and then when the student earns it, it can be put back into your bank account or spent however.

Yes, but his doesn’t even show up as pending. DD '18 shows her grants as pending, but DS '19 doesn’t. Hence the anxiety. He was on hold a long time until he had to go back to work, so he’ll try again tomorrow :frowning: .

@Encord, I have to ask if your grants are totally missing, or do they show as pending?

@mdcmom mine shows as pending financial aid and I just read above that your sons’s was missing. I know it is extremely difficult to get through the financial aid people during this period, so while you still try to get through to them, tell your son to check his to do list in the student center just to be sure he has sent in everything necessary for financial aid. If he has sent everything and you still can’t get through to fin aid via phone, you can also try emailing the fin aid office as well. I hope you figure out what the issue is.

I know you said he is waiting on grants, but if by chance he is waiting on sub/unsub loans or Perkins loan, then he needs to fill out MPN for both before they will be disbursed.

No loans, and he says his to do list is clear. Hopefully he can get through today.

I’m sure they are swamped and I’m sure it will all work out, but I can understand how you are feeling since August 7th is a few short days away. My DH’s birthday is August 7th and we have both Ds tuition due that day…happy birthday to him, poor guy!!! Like he says, it’s a gift to our kids.

DS finally got through to FA and it’s all worked out…whew. Now to finish shopping. Thanks everyone for your encouragement.

I called also. They said as long as they are pending, they are good as gold!
