I don’t think they are doing it based on application strength. It seems really random. A girl at my school with lower scores who applied later got in two weeks ago, and I’m stuck here waiting.

And imafailure, 2250 and 4.4, and I still haven’t heard anything. Don’t bring peoples’ hopes down.

I just got in last weekend. I applied on October 31st. I got into smeal and had a 3.2 uw and 3.8 w with a 1640 sat.

Definatley goin there next year since i got into smeal. Do you think since im in smeal I would be able to dorm in North Halls with SLO or should i stay in East Halls to live the freshman experience?

Wow. Are you out of state?

Yea. Maryland

Woo, MD ^^^

I applied Nov. 1. I have 3.8 GPA & 25 act. Although my act score isn’t too great, my academic record is. And I haven’t heard yet either. They sent me an email the day before Christmas eve saying that they will be closed until Jan. 3 and after the 4th, I can continue to check my application status.

Applied Mid-September, 3.74 GPA and 1940 SAT, still have not heard back. Meanwhile, people that just applied have already gotten in. Most bogus admissions process I have ever seen.

Those are nice stats. We are in the same boat. Four months today for me. Although I’d rather hear nothing and still be in the running instead of “Welcome to Altoona.”

I applied literally 30 minutes after the application was available to be submitted (walked out of Spanish class to do it) with a 2090/1420 and a 91.7 gpa and haven’t heard anything or even seen my status change.

I think a lot of it has to do with your intended major too. A friend of mine is applying for the architecture program which is very competitive, so he hasn’t heard anything yet, while I’ve known for about 2 months.

livelaughlove26, and to add to your friend’s and my DS’s wait is the fact that some majors are only at the University Park campus, so as they say you’re either in or you’re out.

My son applied to Engineering school at Univ Park on 10/30/2009.

His stats SAT 2190/1500. GPA around 4.00. In top 10 % of class. Mostly As and Bs. Shown improvement from grade 9 to grade 11. Some extra-curricular activities. He is still waiting to hear from Penn state.

What are his chances?

I would say they are excellent!

My son submitted his application in early October and still no answer. Very frustrating. Here are his stats:

3.8+ GPA
top 10% of his class
AP classes
1170 SAT (CR + Math)
Editor in Chief - newspaper
Varsity baseball
student government
VA Boys State participant
etc…

I know his SAT scores could be better, but hopefully he still has a shot at getting in. We check every morning and still no answer. I also called the admissions office, but all they said was that he would hear by the end of the month. So much for rolling admissions…any advice??
