Anyone else wishing they had applied Early Decision?!

Although March 31 is less than 2 weeks away, for some reason, it hasn’t hit me yet that we’re finding out so soon. I applied regular decision obviously, but was debating applying early in mid October. Anyone else regretting not having applied early?! Think I’m screwed now, but trying to remain optimistic. It really is my TOP choice and I would LOVE to go there… kicking myself right now

some1 else share their experiences/thoughts/opinions… Thanks!

same here....i would definitely have appliled earkly, but i couldnt finish my testing (SATs) on time...and thought by grade 12 marks would be influential if i waited till regular...

i wish i had applied earlier.....but we had a fest and i had to give SAT II exmas....just procrastinated i guess....

As a person who did apply ED and got deferred, I kind of wish I had applied RD. I looked back on my app, and honestly, it could have been a ton better. Half of me feels that applying RD with stronger essays would have helped my chances, but the other half still has hope for that slim 14% of deferrees who later are admitted... Also, I was kind of putting all my hopes on Penn, so I didn't concentrate on my other 8 applications. Big mistake... Well... it's too late to change the past, so might as well accept it and move on ... (sounds cheesy..hehe) but yeah. Good luck in the coming weeks =)

Ichi. Koroshiya Ichi. Haha.

i do!!!...for the simple reason that they took more than half or so of the class early...it's made rd sooo much more competitive..!!!

Anyone else wishing they hadn't been deferred Early Decision?!

moi! but then I didnt aply ED, i applied EA (obviously not to Penn)

Yea! Especially now because 1) UPENN is my top choice 2) 5 kids from my school have already been accepted ED.

Kudos to them, but that's bad for me...

5 kids!!!!!!!!! I go to an extremely ( i mean extremely) competitive hs in new york on long island and not one person was accepted ED to penn, which was very weird considering they took 3 kids ed last year. My schools sends kids to every ivy including harvard, yale, princeton, duke, stanford, mit, j hopkins, u name it, they send lol.

i have no idea why people capitalize Penn or UPenn. Why is that?

I did apply ED. I was banking on that 33% acceptance rate, but I got deferred. I'm actually extremely pleased to have gotten deferred - I suppose it puts me on that "fence". After I got deferred, I started hearing things about Penn that made me like it less...conversely, I started hearing things about Dartmouth, where I had applied last-minute, which made me really really love it. It's now my first choice. Although, if I don't get into Dartmouth and do get into Penn, I'll be very happy.

Hmm 14%...well figure this. They accepted a third of the applicants to fill up half of a 2300-person class. so, 1150 kids. they also deferred a third: also 1150 kids. They'll accept 14% of those...161 kids get accepted RD that were deferred ED.

AWESOME. Prob. not going to see you guys there next year, lol

blu, do u wanna elaborate on "the things about Penn that made me like it less" and the things about Dartmouth that made you really really love it?
.. Just wondering... Thanks

wow blu, you are 3 posts from 1,000... awesome

lol blu i remember when you joined... ah, those were the days

i wish i had applied ED, too. oh wait, i did.

I was deferred as well, kind of sucks. But, I would determine your probability of acceptance based on the people that you're competing with from your school. The Christian Science Monitor discussed how they compared students from each school.

hhhmm, I don't know myself why I captilize UPENN (whoops did it there again). lol.

Oh well.

The official short name for the university is Penn - no U and only the P capitalized.

yea, cept people think it's penn state more often than not

Yea, really wish I had applied early as it was my top choice. But now, I'd really like to go to Duke. So, heh, I guess I wish I had applied early there more. I'm so nervous.
You know, all the signs point to rejection for me. I mean, let's look at Cornell for instance. I recently got a Likely and I guess I kind of figured I would get accepted because I had gotten a letter asking about missing fin aid stuff. Now, why in the world would they waste time in asking about my fin aid if I haven't been accepted? (See, that was my reasoning) However, I haven't received anything about my fin aid from UPenn or Duke or heck, any other colleges (except for the ones I've already been accepted to). So, now, I'm super worried. SUPER. I know it'll just break my heart when I see that business sized letter from UPenn and Duke. Ah, but I can't say I didn't expect it. What can I say but, Oh Well.

why is it people who joined later than me have more posts!!!
