has anyone here ever transfered to any UC with a GPA below 3.0? i doubt the personal statement has much impact on if you get it but who knows

I know some guy in a CCC that got into Irvine with 2.8; engineering major.

One of my classmates had a 2.75-2.8, and very few ECs that were OK. He got into Irvine, SD, and Davis for Bio.

i guess it also depends on the major

Not at Amherst. At low tier schools it is possible.

^^Lol, everything about that post is funny.

I know someone who got in to UCLA with a bio major, and had a 2.9 gpa

My friend got into UC Irvine w/ 2.7 GPA as english major!

2.8 got into all ucs not named berkeley & la (didn't apply to r, sc, or m) for poli sci

Also, if you are in TAG you just need 2.8!(SD,Irvine,Davis etc.)

Im sure there is people with lower GPAs that got in UC's.... just at this point they are probably really selective with the ones below a 3.0... it never hurts to try, Id say sign up for the UC's just in case, and if you don't get into any, at least you know instead of just sitting there wondering if you wouldve gotten in or not, but just try it doesnt hurt to try... right? But dont worry, if you sign up to pretty much all of the UC's you are bound to get into at least 1 of them (meaning riverside or merced; no offence to those schools though) so yeah... just give it a shot and good luck!

If you sign an agreement with UC Irvine, you only need a minimum of 3.0 to be guaranteed admission. As long as you finish all your IGTEC.

I thought it was 2.8!

it varies, depending on the deal your particular jc has with a given university. my old jc, for example, had a TAG agreement with ucsd that stipulated a minimum of 2.8.

fail schools

what do you mean by fail schools? they arent berkeley or UCLA, but they are good schools....

is it possible to transfer to UCB from UCSD in ChemE even though I'm going to be a first year?

different schools want different things, for example uci i think said that you needed to have 54 units completed for by summer to apply for winter, and davis said you need a minimum 3.0 to apply, but almost every transfer counselor always stress completing the 2 English courses and one math for for igetc first even though i never ask. Anyways i have 45 transferable units right now and taking 15 in the fall to get 60. I applied for winter for UCR, UCSC, AND UCSB, my major is communications but only UCSB has it and was open for winter, SD, LA, Berkley were closed for winter. I attended summer school the whole summer and the last month was tough caused i took a sociology class that i had to write a paper and do a group research project along with working on my personal statement for the Uv which i must of revised many times, also the application is a long process, and all the papers and the final and the application/personal statement was all due the same day

When you say transfer with a gpa below 3.0, do you mean at the time you are applying? At the time of the grade update in January? Or the GPA you have at the end of the spring/cumulative???

yeah at the time i am applying, also i did the calculation and even if i get all A's in my 5 class 15 units course, i would still only have a 2.9
