I’m a senior in high school right now and I’m deciding between DVC or SF State. I definitely want to transfer to UCSC my junior year but I’m not sure how difficult that is coming from SF state. I want to go to CSU to have the “freshman experience” in a dorm but I know it’ll be easier to get in as a transfer student from DVC. Has anyone had experience in this situation? If so what hoops did you have to jump through in order to be accepted/have everything transferred over correctly? Any info will help.

SF has students on-campus but is largely a commuter school - it won’t give you nearly the freshman dorm experience you would see at UCSC, SDSU, Sonoma or Chico - where nearly everyone lives close to campus. If you don’t plan to graduate from SF, i think you are wasting your money on the dorms and CSU vs CC tuition.
You can use the radio buttons and drop down menus of this tool on the Transfer by Year tab to confirm that, 11 people pulled that (SFSU => UCSC) off last year. It is possible but, not a well worn path. DVC had 216 successful transfers. CCs have TAG, which really simplifies the transfer process and takes the worry out of admissions.
