Anyone fail the driver's road test?

I can proudly say that I FAILED THE ROAD TEST (in October, I did pass the second time). I was in the parking garage of the test site, and as I was pulling out, I did not know that the garage was one way! I pulled out in the wrong direction. Well, after correcting that, I was going to leave the parking garage via a "spiral" ( a ramp, but it goes round and round). Well, a car was coming down the spiral at 45 MPH, and seeing her two stories above me, I figured that I had time, so I pulled out, only to be honked at, and for the trooper to yell at me. I did NOT get to finish the test (HAHAHA!!!). I was also pulled over less than a week later because my liscense plate illuminator was not "illuminated enough", I guess they wanted a halogen lamp (one of two bulbs burnt out). I also have been in three wrecks, being rear-ended once, swoop-and-squatted once, and spun into a guard rail, trying to miss a vehicle, and I lost control.

I HATE DRIVING!!!

I did three times, I think. The first one was because I just made a bunch of stupid mistakes, like not looking both ways while going through an intersection. Although when they made me pull out of a driveway. Almost hit a mailbox.

The next one...the guy was MEAN. He made me cry. He talked like Tevye from the film version of Fiddler, but he was nothing but fuzzy. I had to back acround a street corner and I couldn't, too nervous.

Nothing really amusing or spectacular, but I suck at tests. Not practical. Plus, it's so hard to get to a DMV because they are SO CROWDED after school. And driving tests end at 6 in the evening or something. I had to ditch school to take mine. And I still failed. Didn't get it untill winter break.

I hate driving too. And you know what I hate more? Spending money on gasoline.

Your tests sound extremely hard...

Mine consisted of a right turn, a left turn, a right turn, another right turn, another right turn, a left turn, and a hella easy parking job because a truck got in the way!! It took maybe 2 minutes.

Too bad I lost 15 points for not stopping completely at a few stop signs...

Lucky. My first one made me so nervous. He was mean, and would not answer any questions (and he would not let me finish!). I had to.....

1) Get out of the parking garage.....alive
2) Left turn, Left turn, parallel park between two cars (a tight spot)
3) left turn, left turn, turnabout (go past intersection, reverse in, and go out the other way)
4) Park on a hill
5) Pull out of a driveway
6) Back around a street corner
7) stop in the middle of the road
8) Drive some more
9) Get inside the parking garage....alive
10) Pray that you passed

Oh, and I forgot, I had to REVERSE park!!!!

Question of the night:

How can someone be so good at Math and so bad at driving? (I took AP Calculus AB and BC in eighth grade!!!!!)

(shhh! I am Asian)

Amen on the gas prices. I remember whining about $1.69 per gallon....

Wow. My test was wicked easy and I passed the first time, but the lady I had was a b**** and a half.

I literally drove 500 meters. Pulled away from the curb up to a traffic light 100m away. Took a right and drove 100m more. Took a left onto a side street, parallel parked and did a three point turn. Then I drove back the exact same way.

The woman obviously hated humanity, though. I couldn't see anything out my back window because it's really high and tiny, so I lifted myself off the seat to see better. She started SCREAMING at me, "YOU DIDN'T LEARN THAT IN DRIVER ED!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" Then she took off 10 points for "braking abruptly" when the light turned yellow and I had to stop quickly so I wouldn't run a red light. Witch.

Gas prices in the U.S. are ridiculously low. Stop complaining.

Wow, your tests sounds torturous. Mine consisted of pulling out of a parking spot, getting out of the parking lot (I accidentally took up both lanes, since it was kinda tight, and I was rebuked for it), driving down the road, turning left, pulling over, three-point turn, and then going back the same way. When I had to park the car, the parking spot was straight in front of me, so that was no problem. I still passed despite my initial faux pas.

i have a friend who literally forgot to turn the car on (did everything else, from mirror check to blinker). still passed.

I failed the first time taking it. The lady gave me a 15 minute lecture on safety and put me down for something that was an automatic fail (I otherwise had enough points to pass).

I drove up to an intersection to do a right turn at a red light. This involved signaling, checking, shifting into a bike lane no more than xxft from the intersection, and pausing for traffic. After I did all that, she failed me for not checking the mirror a AGAIN for bikes while stopped and before I made the turn. I'll admit I'm not the best driver. During the test, I mistakingly thought the street I was left turning onto was 3 lanes wide instead of two and almost drove into the wrong side of the street but didn't. The reason she gave me was almost absolute argh. She made a big deal about this at the end of the test.

Driving is Asian kryptonite.

haha lakerboy834 is such a loser. he failed a driving test! he might have taken calc3 and 4 in freshmen year (seriously doubt that) but he acts like he doesn't know what 1 + 1 is. He is retarded. Let me guess, his iq must be below average? what a loser. good luck finding a community college that will accept you kid.

god damn get gforce out of my face.

@ gforce: LOL wow that's ****ed up.

Are Asians really bad drivers? I've never heard this before. lol. Old people, that's what gets me (not to be rude). But honestly, can you go close to the speed limit, if you're too fragile to operate a motor vehicle take the bus, please. haha. oh wow, that was very offensive. but true.

I hate that too, GreenDayFan! The worst is when it's the middle of the day, sun shining, perfect weather, no reason to go slow...and they're STILL more than 10 miles below the speed limit. Dear God, just pull over and let people pass!

^ I hate that, too! Especially when I need to be somewhere. I know a bunch of people who failed the road test. It depends on the tester (for lack of better name). Mine was really nice, and it was raining so she was extra nice.

I failed the test the first time and my hopes were so high I cried for the whole afternoon.

When I retook it my permit was almost expired and it was right after the English final so I hadn't slept all night (mainly from nervousness about the driving test, not the final... too afraid of failure and not afraid enough of shakespeare). Almost turned left when he said right. Haha. Passed though! And am a better driver for having failed the first time. (I had messed up on too many small things... now I actually use the mirrors!!)

But *** is wrong with CA... can't drive my friends [legally... cough cough].

Gforce, thats a little harsh but I get what you're saying. How do you fail a driving test? Its ridiculous. People on here do Calc Ultimate and all this other crap, but can't pass a basic drving skills test. Thats ****ed up. Maybe some people should concentrate on being good at a basic life skill before they worry about if their schedule is rigorous enough.

And yes the asian stereotype of bad drivers does exist, and in my personal experience holds some truth to it.

For some reason I had assumed, that because I was more experienced at driving because I'd almost used up the permit, and that because I had better grades than friends before me who'd gotten their licenses on the first try, that I would pass.

Kenshinsan has a point... I really hated myself for a while for not doing it right. But I guess we can't all be perfect at everything?

wow this thread is perfect. i failed mine yesterday (first time), and i'm still bitter about it. the reason was i was doing 40 in a residential area, and she told me that was an automatic failure--she was in her 50's--grr old people ;)

anyways, the reason why i'm so mad is b/c my permit expires july 20 and i'm going to be away then, so when i come back, i have to retake both my permit test AND this stupid road test.

grr. it sucks being a teen. they all hate us.
