I have earned 12 units of Community College Credits and am currently enrolled in 5 additional credits.

I plan on completing my senior year at the end of the first semester. Then enrolling full time at my local Community College for the second semester.

I work part-time apprenticing as a Special F/X assistant.

I don't have any community service hours logged, and I'm not involved in any team sports.

My family is relocating to Northern California next year. I've visited about six Northern California State and UC Campuses. I only want to attend one of them: Sonoma State.

Since the Cal State admissions process is very formulaic, tell me what are my chances of being accepted to Sonoma State?
Thank you.

you're absolutely in, no questions asked. you can aim even higher than cal state.
yet sonoma state isn't popular for college bound norcal students and your gpa is your sure bet

Thank you, you really made my day. I know that the UC's are more popular, however, when I visited Sonoma, the campus just felt right to me. It's really important to me to go to a university that is not a party school I'm not a nerd, I just am not into drinking and drugs. I also really liked the fact that it's a fairly small student population.

Are you instate? If so, of course you'll get in, and you should at least TRY to apply to a few UCs. You must realize that CSUs are designed for the future teachers of California, and if you don't want to teach, CSUs will limit your future (possibly, I'm not saying you won't be able to do anything but the difference between the opportunities a UC gives vs. a CSU is tremendous).

Just like to add that for any CSU except maybe SLO if your GPA is above 3.0 you're practically guaranteed admission.

Sorry, I haven't been on for a few days. To answer your question, yes, I live in Southern California. My plan is to get my B.A. at Sonoma and then move on to a different University for my M.A. and eventually I want to get my P.H.D.

I don't plan on being a teacher. I am interested in double majoring in Criminal Justice and Poly. Sci. I also plan on minoring in International Studies. I think that Sonoma will be a good place to start. I know that the UC's are higher up the food chain, but I really don't want to be on a large campus. Most UC's are 25,000 or more in student population.

Thank you and I appreciate your advice, but I really want to attend this school. I like the area and the outdoor recreation available there is perfect for someone like me.

saasaa, since when are the 460,000 students of the cal state system all earmarked as future teachers as you say? you might want to check the data in the chancellor's office to determine what tiny percentage of this total are education majors.

Many Cal State schools produce students who go on to prosper in a variety of professions. SLO is a top engineering school, San Diego State has business, Davis has animal science and wine making, and others have strong programs as well. It's funny you say that about the UC's because, although I have one son at a UC and another on the way to a UC, their reputation has always been one of training undergraduates to be graduate students and not necessarily prepared to get a job. So all schools/groups of schools have stereotypes and I suppose it is up to the individual student to look past those and see what each school has to offer them.

One thing about Sonoma State is that it really is a suitcase school (I live nearby). The campus empties out on weekends. I don't know if that makes a difference to you or not.

Hi More Cowbell, (gotta love the name) I don't suppose your a Blue Oyster Cult fan??

A quiet campus like Sonoma is exactly what I'm looking for. I visited the campus last spring and my family thought the area was beautiful so they are also planning on relocating to Sebastapol.

It's going to be a little hard on my dad, he is a Special F/X tech. in the movie industry. He will have to travel for work, or maybe, he'll try to get a job at ILM (George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic). All in all it will work out.
