Anyone feel like guessing the curve?

hmm.icic. it better be generous.

i have a feeling it wont be since everyone thought it was alot easier then the december one -_-

i agree with iownchopsticks, the science curve will be extremely harsh ==

Well, I thought the math was the same in difficulty as the December one. So I think the curve will be the same as the December one. It also doesn't hurt that nearly everyone at my school had to guess multiple times or just not finish.
(raw scores)
36- 58-60
35- 56-57
34- 54-55
33- 52-53
32- 51
31- 50

As for the science, I thought it was a little bit easier than December's science. However, I do not know if that is because I was more prepared/ focused or if it was just easier.

This is December's science curve(It would be nice to have this for this test)
(raw scores)
36- 38-40
35- 37
34- 36
33- 35
32- 34
31- 33
30- 32
29- 31
28- 30

As for English and Reading in December, they were pretty much the same as the read book's. The reading, however, "skipped" 35.
(raw scores)
36- 40
34- 39

By the way, these are valid, as I got them in my TIR.

What were the exact conversion of scores for reading abd english on the december test??

English(December)
36- 75
35- 73-74
34- 72
33- 71
32- 70
31- 69
30- 68
29- 66-67
28- 65

Reading
36- 40
34- 39
33- 38
32- 37
31- 36
30- 34-35
29- 33
28- 32

do they vary from test to test?

and if so, do you think the curves will be more or less generous?

Of course it varies from test to test. Some tests are easier, so people do better, and they give a harsher curve. With harder tests, people do worse, and there is a more generous curve. This is all just to keep the results the same from different test dates. I think the curves for this test will be similar( and wouldn't we all love to have that science curve?) because the test seemed to be similar in difficulty.

Yeah, I got caught confusing the 1 and 5 as well, but I believe there were only 2/3 questions that directly asked about the ABE.

I felt pretty confident on english and math, but my brain just stopped after the 10 minute break, and i guessed the last 7-8 questions on reading, filled random answers for last 10 on science, and i had no idea what to put down for the essay.

Hopefully the curves will be more generous this time.

Did anyone else feel like the science section actually required a substantial amount of prior knowledge (physics, genetics)? I know that the ACT people never guarantee that it won't, but the practice tests I've taken tended to either only require junior-high level knowledge or only required high school level knowledge on one or two questions.

Oh, and if the math curve really is that generous, that would be freakin' awesome! I think I missed 8-10, and getting a 31 at the worst would be fantastic.

I believed it did require prior knowledge. But we were supposed to be able to "reason" it out even if we did not know it.

What about the genetics section? How are you supposed to reason out the 9/16 one? The most sensible answer would seem to be that 1/4 of the offspring would be green, so I put 5/16...

i put 9/16

Since green was dominant, it was most reasonable to infer that most of the offspring would be green...specifically, it would be a 9:3:3:1 ratio.

But how is that "reasonable" without prior knowledge of genetics? I looked at the number of allele combinations and it looked like there were four for green, hence 4/16, so I put 5/16.

its 9/16, I did the punnet square with the 16 boxes.

Yeah, I thought it did as well. Luckly I have covered genetics this year and it is something that has always been easy for me to remember. I had physics last year, but I didn't have enough time to read that section, so I had to glance at stuff and basically guess on all of the questions

I hope the science curve is generous like Decembers. I hope math is pretty good, too, since it would help raise my score.

@Rocket Surgery — I reasoned it out from the beginning of the passage, where it showed how many combinations there were of each color. There were more greens, so I put 9/16 lol. Besides this moderately-informed guessing, I have no clue where that exact info was found in the passage. I know I couldn't find it :/

That's my point.

I'm thankful that I actually paid attention in biology last year.lol

Rocket Surgery-I meant that is what the ACT thinks we should be able to do.
