Anyone get a likely letter from Dartmouth?

Two people in my school got one

Hey guys,
Yep I got a likely letter as well. I asked around and it seems its more than just"likely". The letter is closer to “certain”. According to my counselor, this is known as an “Early reply” or “Early notification” and is used by a handful of the more prominent schools such as Dartmouth, Yale and Williams.
Congrats to all others! PM if you go to Dartmouth, its one of my top choices as well.

likely letter = guaranteed acceptance.

simple as that.

Hey, does anyone know if Dartmouth pays for airfare for admit weekend?

Yes, they do pay for airfare if you have demonstrated financial need based upon the FAFSA/CSS Profile. And collegebound0411, I received an email inviting me to join the Class of 2016 FB group about a week after receiving my likely letter in January, but you don’t need to have received an email to request to join the group.

Are there waves or is this the end of the line?

I got mine on the 11th   and it had the date “February 9, 2012”… I think they’re all sent out the same day. When you get it just depends on where you live. For reference, I am in California.

"Are there waves or is this the end of the line? " Who, outside of Hanover, is to know? The last cutoff date allowed is 15-March.

But seriously, all Likely Letter discussions devolve into nervous mailman stalker events. Don’t worry about LLs. What’s done is done. You might get one, you might not. You might get admitted, you might not. Checking and re-checking the most minute discussion about the current admissions season won’t do a thing to relieve any stress. Stay off of CC until your own kids need college advice. Go enjoy yourself – you deserve it.

T26E4,

Where is the like button?

There are approximately 500 likely letters sent out. Dartmouth admits ~2000 students. This means that the majority of admitted students will not receive a likely letter.

Likely letter recipient. No demonstrated interest. No URM. No Legacy. No interview(thank god). Outstanding extracurricular activities (when viewed in context). Just a normal girl, with mad bubble filling-in skills. :)

Has anyone from the Midwest received a letter yet?

not that i’ve heard of!
if it makes you feel better, last year a girl from my (MIDWEST!) school got a likely to dartmouth…but she got it around the second week of march. so maybe they just look at midwest last/send out midwest ll’s last?

I’m from Illinois and I got mine on January 30.

Has anyone’s application status page changed yet? Mine hasn’t.

I don’t expect that it will, considering we haven’t officially been admitted yet.

just got mine today! Asian so not URM, and not recruit!

I got mine today… I’m excited but I think I’m also in shock. Dartmouth was one of my reach schools

Just got mine today in Texas! I’m a public school attendee with no URM or legacy status, disease-curing discoveries, or virtuoso talent to speak of  I am BEYOND thrilled and relieved

Got mine in the mail today ¶, extremely happy!

Texas, just got mine in today too!! Basically in the exact same position as litcrit, unless being half-Hispanic is counted as an URM haha.

I’m freaking out. And in shock. Just, I didn’t really believe I could get in at all and instead I got a likely, what is this.

Congrats to everyone else who did! And for those who didn’t, remember, most people who end up enrolling didn’t get a likely. It’s not over, not by a long shot.
