Anyone get into ivy's with about 1700 sat score?
exculding URMs and recruits.

I got deferred from Penn with an 1800, then rejected RD

Oo excluding URMS...lol that's kind of hard to say!

to be equally nice (or equally acid), you'd want to exclude recruited athletes and legacies too.

... and the famous, powerful, or hyper-rich.

I suppose it is theoretically possible if someone is incredibly talented in a particular field where the low scores are irrelevant, like a musician who has won major competitions, a writer with a best-selling book, etc. I don't know of any actual cases, though.

I can't think offhand of any other way a 1700 would get in.

well, DianeR, what if he owned the place ;)

Owned what place?

Yea, 1700s get some ppl into IVYS. COlumbia and COrnell have the HEOP program which basically grants underprivileged kids with good grades & a lot of potential (but very low SATs) admissions if they complete a program during the summer. I know a few 1700s at Cornell and a couple 1800s at Columbia and Penn.
