Thank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland. The Admission Committee has completed an initial review of your application but is not yet able to reach a final decision. In order to make a final decision, we would like to consider your grades from the first semester of your senior year to determine if you are among our most competitive applicants. Please arrange to have your high school send us your grades as soon as possible. You will be notified of a final decision by April 1.

If you have questions please feel free to contact our office at 301-314-8385/1-800-422-5867 or via email at um-admit@umd.edu.

It means they want to see you first semester grades from this year before they make a decision as to whether you are accepted or not. Talk to your guidance counselor and arrange for them to be sent to UMD. Hopefully they are decent and they decide to accept you! Good luck!

If you did better this semester I think it’s possible you will be admitted for the fall semester. Calling admissions and asking them never hurts, though.
