My D was admitted to the WMP and Spring 2012 admission, and is considering it if we can figure out the finances for the fall. The idea of having an internship right off with just a few classes sounds like a great way to start building a resume to help with getting future internships, and really get to know DC at the same time. Is anyone else strongly considering the program? Is anyone thinking of just going in the spring, and doing something else for the fall? Is anyone attending the April 9th WMP Preview Day?

We are planning on attending the April 16 preview day. There’s a good discussion of WMP on the related thread on this board - strong feelings pro and con.

teachandmom: Our D was also admitted in the Spring and offered a WMP spot. Unlike some others on this board, we did not see it as a backhand slap. The financial side of it is daunting, but the opportunity, in many ways, seems perfect for her. I even like the opportunity she would have to work closely with a relatively small group of students at Tenley before heading to the larger main campus. We will be at the April 9th WMP Preview Day (and might possibly attend the AU Admitted Students Day on the 8th as well). Our daughter seems excited about the program; she did received some great financial packages from competing schools, however, making AU more difficult financially than her other top choices–not prohibitive, though. We’re keeping an open mind: if she is really taken with the program and AU’s presentations, then we will make the effort. Hope to see you and your daughter there.

At this point, my D is strongly leaning toward attending in the spring, and working at home and taking classes to transfer in the fall. Would work the best financially. She is very excited, but the fall is just too far out of our reach. Now, if she were to be admitted to the fall, with aid, then she would be there! Otherwise, I think the spring it will be!

Follow-up: I didn’t think of the spring admission and WMP as a slap either. For students who like AU, the waitlist would be torture due to the uncertainty. At least this way, my D knows she DOES get to attend, just has to wait a bit…

Hello, I have been admitted to AU into the School of International Service but I will, if I go there, reallyy consider transferring into Kogod Business School of AU. Can anyone tell me if such thing is relatively easy to do at AU?
Thanks
