Anyone Going Here?

Is anyone going to Fairfield? I absolutely luv the campus.

Hey, I'm not going, but I live in Fairfield, so if you have any questions about the area and whatnot, do tell.

for example: the best ice cream in the world (ok, maybe not. but in the county, certainly) is in wilton.

I'm applying and wondering what you would say about Fairfield in general. How wd you compare it to Sacred Heart Univ?

Hi, new to this, applied to Fairfield and Sacred Heart. Wondering what you know abut Fairfield in general and how you would compare it to Sacred Heart?

I would say that Fairfield is one of the best Catholic colleges in the country. There are the LACs, Holy Cross and DePauw also way up there, and Villanova, Providence, and Loyola as well. Of course you have the National schools, Georgetown, Notre Dame and BC, but I think Fairfield is right up there with the better LACs. The only issue with Fairfield is that it is not so well known when you get away from the Northeast.

Thanks, my son is from a Jesuit high school. His SATs are in the range, but his grades are lower than their posted mean. He's wondering if he does get in as lib arts major if the work will be too challenging. I think its such a matter of maturity that he won't know until he trys it. He loved the campus and the way they represented their curriculum as being flexible allowing many courses to be applied to many different majors for example. He hasn't waivered until recently. I think he is getting nervous about the work as he is not well organized and that affects his grades.

Some other nice catholic schools in the Northeast that seem to attract some great kids from catholic schools are Stonehill, Sienna, Scranton, Marist, St Joe (Philly). My oldest son graduated from a catholic school, and many of the kids considered those schools. I also really like StMichael's in Vermont and for a NYC experience, Manhattan.

Thanks, applying to some of those. Good luck to you.
