I am, but I'm commuting from home b/c I live 30 minutes away from Bethesda.

I have been there, not for an internship though.

=))) anyone anyone?
I'm sending my dorm application form in few days

what is nih

National Institue of Health

do you think it is better to go to NIH or....

a state public health research institute???
the work at the public health research institute seems like it would be better, and the head researcher said that he would prep me for the westinghouse/ siemens/ intel competitions.

Is the reputable name of NIH more important than doing better work at a less known research institute??? also is it possible to do westinghouse/ intel comptetions using NIH research??

well...i think you can use your nih work to enter competitions
i talked to my mentor about it and he said his son actually got intel few years ago and his son, of course, did the research at his lab.

did you apply to nih anyways? if you didn't then it's a little bit too late now....

yea i applied and i got the position at NCI, but i dont kno what the work will be like and i also have a position at the public health research institute. I'm not sure if the NIH one is paid tho...Which one would be more impressive??

NIH will pay you around 3000 dollars for 2 months i think
did you talk to your mentor yet?
i don't think it will "impress" any top college to work in NIH...i mean it's a good place to do internship but they are not going to be "impressed" because there are whole lots of people doing this too. It's the research you do in the lab that will impress people and it's absolutely fine if you do an amazing project in a local research place. You should talk to your mentor at NIH about it and see what he/she says.

how selective is NIH?
