I got some invites from Cal / UCLA, but didn't hear anything from San Diego. Does UCSD grant scholarship without any separate applications?

Just wondering...

I’m guessing you’re referring to the Regents and Alumni scholarships so I’ll just address those.

Not sure why UCSD does it this way, but Regents only considers academic achievements and is based off you score a certain amount using the (UC GPA x 1000) + [(SAT I + SAT IIA + SAT IIB) * 0.8] formula. Not sure what the amount is nowadays though.

The Alumni scholarship here is only for Regents scholars (bummer for the rest of the admits) and they’ll receive an invitation to apply after getting in.

That being said, if you’re worried about the money angle rather than the library/scheduling perks, rest assured that UCSD will provide adequate grant aid to meet the difference between your EFC and what the federal/state government offers you. I didn’t qualify for the Cal grant the past two years and UCSD has basically covered the entire difference.

@MiqueMaus: Did you live on campus? Did your financial aid help with that at all?
