Anyone gotten the packet yet?

waterbottleslim,

no, according to my theory if you live in CA and haven’t received anything then you are not necessarily rejected, you just haven’t received anything. I refer you back to my original comment to explain why you may not have received a ‘likely email’ (i guess NYU will create this new term kind of like ‘likely letter’)

I want to emphasize that the U.S. Post Office has been laying off in waves and reorganizing - this could/is a huge factor as to when you get your letter (regardless of geography)

NYU could have staggered out their mailing by furtherest-closest and some Californians will still not get their letters until Weds/Thurs because the work-force of the USPS is so unstable and drastically varies from state to state.

In essence, CA letters could have gotten out of NY quickly but slowed down dramatically once they arrived to…lets say UT…or they could have arrived to CA but are now through the slow circulation of CA mail services.

my point is there are numerous factors of timing - either timing vis a vis USPS, or timing vis a vis NYU Admissions Office - that are causing this mass confusion among NYU applicants. It likely has nothing to do with your admittance/rejection decision.

Did anyone receive an acceptance packet who did not receive an the “travel” or “acceptance” email?

Im still waiting in TN. Didn’t receive any emails so Im getting nervous too.

jazz/shreddermom: Gallatin. Hopefully it comes by tomorrow!

chorapanese,

Thanks for the reassurance. I have already assumed I will not get accepted, but am just waiting for the confirmation so I can make decisions about my other colleges. My GPA is not exactly on par with other potential Stern candidates. I have great ECs, but i’m afraid that won’t be able to carry me far haha.

nothing yet in San Diego Cali :(

Jazz/Shreddermom…I told me sis that I’m trying to hang on to the hope that it takes an extra day or two to package up the offers with bigger money. HAHAHAHAHA! What a dreamer!!! It’s getting me through the day though! (No chance you “waiters” are National Merit…?..NYU said National Merit Finalists SHOULD be receiving information about the “Baird Program” (includes a couple of “trips”…and WILL make a difference in our final decision). So I really did kind of hang on the hope maybe they were waiting to add that paperwork to the packet or something. ??? PROBABLY more likely just a SLOW mailman (our guy works in reverse speed).

Continued luck and patience to all.

alright! now i’m really anxious. i was 98% sure my decision would come in the mail today…but i opened my mail box and was excited to see stuff in there (i checke about an hour before i usually do) but then all I saw were newspaper adds and a letter from a family friend…NO NYU LETTER
so basically I find out about NYU a few hours before I hear back from Ivies tomorrow…

i live in chicago btw

^^ You’re not alone. I’m in NYC and a friend of mine just received hers today, meanwhile I didn’t get squat!

hmm i got the invitation for admitted students that they talked about in the email but no acceptance package… isn’t the package supposed to come before that comes? weird…

My d got her acceptance packet yesterday (we are in Dallas), accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences. No mention of the college visit days that we were to supposed to keep open to make travel arrangements that was in the email. I called admissions and a student ambassader said registration for this event opens tomorrow and events are college specific. Anyone have any other info and making last minute travel arrangements to NY from out of state?

Southern California, still no rejection/acceptance yet.

Accepted student, still no packet in hand. In CA. Still no idea of accepted student even schedule, time/day, etc. Nice, NYU.

Still nothing in PA, getting frustrated.

Got our package today, we live in southeastern PA.

Oh…Jazzmom…it’s STILL you and me…WAITING. (Middlewest here). My daughter and I leave midday tomorrow (Thu) for an Easter break weekend. So we won’t know financial aid until AT LEAST Sunday night. We HAD to go ahead and plan the trip to accepted student weekend, not know if we can even afford to go. Oh well, if we can’t, and she goes to very very cheap/scholarship state uni…then we can afford the trip anyway. Still…NYU…Jamaica Me Crazy right now!

Vanillasky…what’s it say? What’s it say? (you know, schedule, activities and all)

@R124687 I had no idea about the National Merit Finalist thing! I’m waiting, and NMF…got the emails but still no physical mail ) :
Do you know if it matters whether I listed NYU as my 1st choice school for NMF?

Yes it does.

So when is the LATEST we (SoCa) should be getting our NYU mail? Will it be before Ivies tomorrow?
