anyone had these teachers?

Milanov, Eliseev
Mazzeo, Rafe
Shirokova, Nadya
Oprea, Dragos

They all teach Math 51. :) The question is: which of these profs are manageable, interesting and teaches well?

thanks!!

Next quarter you can shop around and just go to different lectures and see who you like best. I wasn't able to follow Nadya Shirokova (to be fair went to a different prof's lectures after just one lecture), so I don't think I'd bother with her. Rafe is a cool guy and you will have no problem understanding his English. I think I heard good things about Dragos Oprea and I don't know anything about Todor Milanov. I'd check out those three profs early on if possible and see which one you like best and just go to those lectures. They should all be lecturing on the same material each day (more or less) and even if they aren't the early stuff is pretty easy so you should be able to catch up a little if you need to. If you can't make one/more of the lecture times, then that makes it easier to decide which prof's lectures to attend. The exams should be the same for all of the profs just fyi.

I'm taking the class taught by Brumfiel. I think he's pretty good :)

I think Professor Milanov is pretty good...I do not always get what he is teaching, but I think that might apply for any professor, as the concepts in Math 51 don't come instantly to everyone...

I haven't heard great things about Milanov... a lot of students I know transferred out after the first lecture.

Dragos Oprea is a math stud. He scored a 42 on the IMO back in the day. He also seems like a pretty nice guy.

yeah they're all okay....it's a shame brubaker left...

anyone know whehter the problem sets and the difficulty of the class will be the same as fall quarter?

it's usually easier bc there are fewer math/econ-track majors
