Congratulations, CTNYNHMA! Thanks for sharing your good news with us!!!

Kinda figures, though, doesn’t it, that with all the states represented in your user name, your daughter would end up in CA instead! :D

congrats, CT!

again, out of curiosity – did you apply for FA?

i haven’t yet heard of a single person who got pulled off a waitlist who also received FA… hm.

DiveAlive: We were full pay although we’re planning bake sales everyday starting tomorrow! We were told that FA was all dried up when we started our trek coming off the wait pool.

Way to go, CT!! You were probably one of the only ones admitted off the WL!

yep, thacher = ridiculously high yield + low school population + beautiful california!

dying of jealousy here !! congrats again :)

i’d love to know if anyone got off a WL who needed FA, this year or in years past… it seems pretty rare, since i’d imagine the FA budget of most schools is basically eaten up already but is the yield FA left untouched or sucked into a vortex?

CT - thanks for your shout-out. The admission’s team makes its choices without regard to “connections” or big donations or other similar kinds of influences. They saw something special in your daughter and wanted her. It’s one of the many reasons that I’m a shameless booster of the School.

I really hope that we see a few more thrilling last minute admissions on this board.

It took a week to get the package from Taft.

Any late movements off the BS waitlists?

Most Waitlists are closed. Groton, SPS, Deerfield, and MX waitlists are closed. This was not a good year for waitlisted kids.

Actually, I don’t think the DA waitlist is closed yet. I got correspondence with an admissions officer today, and there was no mention of a closed waitlist.

@ifax, groton is closed? where did you hear this?

oh darn… i really liked groton, too : p

I got a letter from each school telling me that their waitlist was closed. Also I talked to an AO at Deerfield who told met that they weren’t going to use their waitlist that much this year.

Yup-but DA is not closed, and I don’t think Hotchkiss is either.

@DiveAlive-Did you get a letter from Groton saying the WL was closed? Because I did.

i didn’t receive any correspondence from groton, i don’t think … after like, march 15th, i heard nothing. eh oh well

Any news regarding Andover or Exeter?

@DiveAlive,
My parents got a letter from Groton a few days ago saying that the WL was closed as well.

oh, yuck. was it like Deerfield’s saying “full right now, maybe we’ll take later”, or like point blank 100% full, done deal?

D’:

A friend on the Exeter waiting list has been contacted by math coach. I’m not exactly sure of the details, but it seems as if he is in, as long a someone declines the offer later, because there are no dorms available at the moment (they are over-enrolled). He’s going to be an upper, btw.

The letter that DA sent says that some people do drop out due to attrition…I asked an admissions officer about it, and she said about two to three get pulled off.

Thacher admitted only one child off the waitlist this year, a rising freshman.
