Anyone Have Any Questions About Chapman?

Do you have any ideae on how many students work while in school, including federal Work Study?

You can probably check with the financial aid office about the work-study question. It would be difficult to have the actual estimate of students working because some are employed independently outside of school.

can anyone tell me about the majoring in health sciences and what kinds of classes you have to take and what kind of education in the sciences you receive?

hi I was accepted into chapman as undeclared and was wondering how difficult you think it would be to eventually make my major film productions at dodge? Do I have a better chance sense I am already accepted into the university? Do you know of anyone that has started chapman under another major and then changed it to film? If so did they get in the first time they applied or did they apply multiple times before getting in?
Thanks for the help

Film Production is extremely hard to get into rumors state it’s the hardest major to get into at the University. But that doesn’t necessary mean you won’t get in. Also, your chance doesn’t increase because you’re already in the University. Correct me if I am (Go on OCElite, do it haha) but it hardest to transfer into the course.

Does anyone know where a list of FFC courses and housing is? I really want to choose FFC based on the halls. I found the 2010 list online but not the 2011 one. Anyone know?

^ Doesn’t come out til Mid May
Heard directly from Chapman

kylwilson92 touched on this a little. I was accepted into Chapman as a spanish major, but I am actually more interested in the Public Advertising major in the Dodge school. Would it be difficult for me to transfer in?

Also, is Chapman a commuter school?

I’m trying to decide between Chapman and Furman in South Carolina.

Congrats lgoldie for getting accepted to Chapman! Dodge indicates on their link under Admission FAQ that transfer applicants have no advantage over high school applicants. This means it is competitive to get in. If you’re interested in Advertising, perhaps you can apply as a double major or as a minor. Either way, you still need to be approved by Dodge.

Chapman can be a commuter school for some but not necessarily for others. There are students living closer to the school and there are students from outside of the area or out of state. Hope you had a chance to visit the schools. If you haven’t, you can take a video tour of Chapman online. Good luck!

@Chinaski Since your are a film major i might guess you know a bit about photography. maybe. I was just wondering if you have seen any work/ classes or talked to students who have taken any photography classes. Im just trying to get a feel for what the classes are like and what kind of photography they emphasize in. such as commercial, portrait, fine art… Thanks for your time

I’m not sure if the poster is still checking messages, you might want to try PM.

I heard a rumor recently that Film students may have their own dorms soon. Has anyone heard anything of this matter?

It is not a rumor. It is planned. The Filmmaker’s Village; residence halls for Dodge students. Check out articles.

Chapman continues to expand. Chapman was also featured on the October 2010 archive at mycollegehunt.net.

I also heard that President Jim Doti is planning a medical school. Wow! Why go to the Ivies in the east coast when we have our own Ivies here in the OC at the west coast.

Is Chapman a christian school? Does it require any religious classes or anything that some religious schools require?

Chapman’s affiliation is with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), but it doesn’t mean that you are required to take any religious classes. However, Chapman has a GE requirement that calls for values and ethics, and a religious class falls under that. If you can find a non-religious course that covers values and ethics than that should satisfy the GE requirement as I had mentioned on post #137 of this thread.

I know that the study abroad programs are valued at Chapman, but are the normal abroad options available for undergraduate film production majors? I know Singapore is an option for Grad students, but what about them undergrads?
