So if I didn’t want to take a Maths related course within QI, would I still be required to take the Placement test?

There is a GE Program guideline that you must meet to earn your degree. This is on their list: “Quantitative Inquiry (3 credits): Provides students an opportunity to investigate and explore university-level mathematical and/or computer science analysis.”
This is math related so therefore you must meet their math placement requirement.

Here is their link to guide you should you have any other questions. Hope this helps. [Chapman University Catalog](<a href=“Chapman University - Acalog ACMS™”>Chapman University - Acalog ACMS™)

I got this from the same site Chapman University Mathematics Placement Tests The website is directly from Chapman’s official website.

They’re basically saying if you get 650/29 on your SAT/ACT you will be allowed to enroll into all of the Maths related QR Courses =

“Students who score at least 650 on the Quantitative portion of the SAT, or who score at least 29 on the Mathematics portion of the ACT, may enroll directly in a Quantitative Inquiry Mathematics or Computer Science course (CPSC 230, MATH 110, MATH 203, MATH 208, MATH 250 or MATH 260).”

And, if you score 500/21 on your SAT/ACT you will only be allowed to enroll into MATH 104 - if you pass MATH 104 you can then enroll into the other Maths related QR courses =

“Students sho score at least 500 on the Quantitative portion of the SAT, or who score at least 21 on the Mathematics portion of the ACT may enroll in MATH 104 without having to take MATH 98 or MATH 99.”

I’dunno, I am pretty much guessing here. The GE requirements aren’t that clear. But am I right? I was planning on picking of the Phil classes, would I need to score 29/650 on my ACT/SAT to be able to take this class or can I just score 21 or above on my ACT and I’ll be able to enroll into a Phil course? Scoring 29/650 only states some courses.

I am really confused at the moment.

Nevermind, I understand it. I guess I have to try and get 29 on my ACT’s maths section.

Does anyone have info on Chapman’s Dance program? Does it have a good reputation? My daughter was accepted with a Dean’s Scholarship, so Chapman is looking like one of our top choices, although she has some other great choices as well. Other than attending her dance audition (which wasn’t exactly in the heart of the campus), we haven’t really gotten the full campus experience yet. When she auditioned, it was a Saturday and the campus was dead. We did meet a very nice Security Guard, though All the dancers we met at the Partridge center seemed very bubbly!

hamster2,
Chapman has an excellent dance program and reputation. Many of their students are on their dance team as well. Their dance team has won the national championships. That is top! I suggest for you and your student to attend the Chapman’s Preview Day in April. This way you can meet with students, faculty, and parents to see for your self and get the real feel of the campus. The other option I would suggest in case you can’t make it to the Preview Day would be to schedule a campus tour with the school. Best of luck and congratulations to your student!

OCELITE, I posted this as a separate thread but figure you are mostly on this one. Can anyone take classes from Dodge even if they are not majoring in a subject from Dodge? Or, is there usually no space left for others to enroll.

“In addition, Dodge College offers minors available to all Chapman University students. Unlike other minors offered at Chapman, if you are interested in declaring a Dodge College minor, you will need to get department approval by completing a short application. Also, while Dodge College students can also apply for one of these minors, be aware that there are several major/minor combinations that are not accepted as the classes of those combinations are too close in content.”

@Lakemom,
I went ahead and replied to your other thread regarding the digital arts question.

For anyone who wants to take classes at Dodge as a minor, please go to their link.

What did you think of LMU?

Is it hard to get in as an international transfer student?

ablove5, go where fits you. For me, Chapman fits best for DS.

moniso, anything is possible.

Good luck!

question… are all of chapman’s classes taught by professors, or are some taught by TAs?

According to DS, the classes are taught by professors unless they are out sick or something.

For my financial aid award letter, in the corner it says what it’s based on. It says it’s based on that my housing is with my parents. I know that that’s what I put in my application, but now I want to change it. How can I change my financial aid award to being housing on campus?

You must notify the financial aid office of the change.

When does Rush happen for sororities? And how long does it last? I don’t have the best opinion of sororities but I have faith that maybe Chapman’s can make me think otherwise. I know that rushing will allow me to check out what the sororities are like without making me obligated to join, so I’d like to do it. I mean you just dress nice and attend these parties while trying to make them want you, right? Sorry if I sound totally ignorant, I’m just wondering …

How is the public transportation in Orange and Orange County in general? I know that a car is essential for living in So Cal, but how difficult would it be to get from place to place in Orange County? Do you know anyone who relies on public transportation at Chapman?

Thanks!

I can’t go to the preview day because I’ll be traveling. I’ve already went to Discover Chapman day. What will I be missing?

Here is an older thread of a Chapman’s Preview Day schedule so you can get an idea of what to expect. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/chapman-university/700130-admitted-students-day.html
