Anyone Have Any Questions About Chapman?

@JLR, quick question, has your financial aid award letter posted to webadvisor yet? (There is a link on Prospective Students for that.)

I hope they get the Millennial Studios Project finished by at least 2013, can’t wait for them to finish the Filmmakers Village. If I get in I want to experience all of these places before I graduate.

@bigmamabear No problem. My Webadvisor doesn’t have my award uploaded yet, which is odd seeing as the letter was postmarked from last week. Oh well :P

Hopefully you and your daughter get your FinAid info ASAP :)

Thanks, JLR. :)

I am interested in Media Studies/Mass Communications. Does Chapman have any similar majors to this?

Hey,

I am sure Chapman has majors in your area. Go and check out their offical website, you will find the Major List in the admissions section. I am on my phone at the moment so I can’t link you

Best wishes.

@Larentia,
Yes. That would be at the Dodge College of Film & Media Arts. There you will find academic study of the various arts in advertising, television, film, etc. Good luck.

OCELITE, I believe you cannot minor in any of the majors at Dodge e.g. Major in Computer science and minor in digital art. Is that true?

@Lakemom,
I don’t believe they have digital arts listed as a minor, but they do offer it as a major. If your student would like both, s/he can double major or major in digital arts and minor in computer science. Here is the link to obtain their list of minors offered at Chapman.

Hope this helps.

Thanks OCELITE, I knew they offered it as a major. I guess doing the CS as a double or a minor are really the choices.

You’re welcome. Good luck :)

Can anyone tell me more about PR & Advertising as well as Creative Producing? I am trying to determine which is more like Media Studies/Mass Communications in that you not just work with the arts but analyze them and their impact on culture.

Ah! Now I understand what your looking for. Creative Producing or PR & Advertising won’t fall into that category. Your looking for Film Studies or Media Studies, I am currently doing a module on Media Studies at Sixth Form. It is amazing.

Yup. So are there any programs like that in Chapman. I really don’t want to focus on film only.

How about this -

Any good?

Thanks but not exactly what I’m looking for.

Hi. To those who already attend Chapman: Is there a Student Center? We toured the campus, but I don’t recall seeing one. I know of the Exercise area, with weights, treadmill, etc. But if a bunch of students want to hang out inside, but not in a dorm room, is there Center, or location, where students can “chill”? (Isn’t that the current accepted term? :-)

thanks

Hey guys,
I was reading the “Chapman University Mathematics Placement Tests” and I am fairly confused. Do you have to take the Placement test so you can enroll into any course within ‘General Education Program Shared Inquiry: Quantitative Inquiry’?

The only way to avoid having to take the math placement test is to meet a certain score on either the SAT, ACT or AP Exam. That is their prerequisite before you can be enrolled in any math related courses including Computer Science, otherwise you would need to take the placement test. This is according to their link.
