Naoise: I guess it makes sense, since math is definitely not one of my strong points and i haven’t taken a real math class [prob and stat doesn’t count!] since Alg. 2.

Well I was able to switch into Engineering. But now I’m curious if I should try the special housing, Engineering Living Learning Community (Barr Residence Hall).

Ahh, that’s awesome that they were able to switch you into the School of Engineering. Now you won’t have to wait until the Spring!

Special housing? Hmm, go for it. My guess is that you’re a guy, right? I believe Barr hall houses ONLY guys who are enrolled in the School of Engineering.

I say sign up for it if you don’t mind not being in a co-ed dorm (realize that you’ll be near other dorms that house co-eds, so even if you’re with guys only, you still have the other 3 BAMM dorms nearby).

mushaboom: mattia is all-dudes. barr is co-ed.

so i guess the only thing that you’d worry about is being in a dorm with a bunch of other engineering students, which i don’t think is a bad thing. it could actually be beneficial to you, socially and academically.

Thanks for the correction =)

I didn’t realize that they had two dorms for engineering students only!

Maybe you should also consider Mattia if you’re a guy CTran726 . . . sorry, I don’t know your gender =P.

I’m a guy. I’d probably prefer coed dorming though. And are immunizations due July 30th post marked or to be received cause I probably won’t be able to go to the doctors till Friday or Monday? Feelin a bit screwed. I tend to be a huge procrastinator. And does anyone happen to know if you can fax medical records and the number for it?

Question…will people think I’m an idiot for taking elements of algebra in the fall?! My mind is completely english and lit based so I bombed my math placement but am exempt from 2 english courses. I’m worried!

alanavm: no, they won’t. also, who cares?

Alanavm: Are you pursing a major in English or some type of liberal art major? Some of them don’t require you to take a math like precalculus or calculus. If so, you could also take Topics in Math for liberal Arts. Less math based, a bit more easier, and good if you don’t really care about calculations and “intense” formulas.

And no, no one cares. And if they do, they suck and don’t have a life =p

English and theater major:)

I think I’m taking math for liberal arts in the spring and then maybe stat for my other math credit. Not sure yet. Sorry if my worrying is silly, I was just a bit concerned.

CTran: The fax number is: 732 932 8255.

alanavm: lol listen to mushaboomblue & take topics in math for l.a. i never took it, but all my friends did (they’re all artsy/language/writer nutsy people) and they would tell me the funniest things they learned…like how to find a majority and stupid things like that haha

QUESTION: what is this Rutgers Student Advantage discount card? I got an ad for it from RHA and it looks kinda useless…?

it is useless. it’s what it sounds like, you get discounts from greyhound and a bunch of other things i can’t quite remember. i don’t know anyone who got it and actually used it. sounded like a rip-off.

You think I can still get in if I have 32 credits as of now but by the time I plan to transfer maybe 50ish. I have a 4.0 right now. But my hs transcript doesn’t look so well. Maybe like a 2.3 or 2.5 I slacked off freshman & sophmore yrs but junior yr I got a 3.9ish senior I got a 3.9 or 4.0 I forgot. Sats are 1975 but its useless they don’t want them anymore. What can I do to increase my chances of getting in? Help any1… Thank u.

haha 4.0 is enough. even with bad high school grades…

Thanks for giving me some hope lol =]

as an out of state student am I gonna feel left out at RU?

Any advice on how early to arrive on move-in day - when do lines start forming? S moves into honors housing 8/28 but housing hours start at 9:00 - do people arrive much earlier? Do you just drive to the dorm and wait on the road nearby? I imagine the parking lots get filled up really early?

moxy – last year i moved in pretty early. i can’t quite remember when but i was one of the first people in my dorm, so i’d say it was around 9:30. there weren’t really lines and traffic was good (i was moving into douglass and it wasn’t as crowded as when we moved my sister into busch. traffic was terrible over at busch, i must say.) so just get there as early as you can. they’ll have ‘greeters’ to direct you to where you’re supposed to go. just remember to look at the move-in guide: [RU Housing Move-In Guide Fall 2009](http://housing.rutgers.edu/movein_guide/)

and for me, since i was moving into jameson, they made us pull into a smaller parking lot on the side of the building, then redirected my family to a larger parking lot where they parked, then helped me unpack my things and we had lunch at the cafe. at busch, i think i remember them doing it similarly. they have people and parking spaces designated for unloading your car, then everyone but the driver gets out to help move the things in (and you’ll have people helping you move things in so it helps to write your son’s name and room number/building name on everything), then the driver parks elsewhere then you can have a proper goodbye. oh, and bring tissues!
