because i am

Are you trying to replace an essay you already uploaded? If so, you need to delete the old one first.
(this happened to S2)

Ugh, yes! I’ve been trying to upload for like an hour.

I’m really upset because I wrote this essay two months ago. I should have uploaded it then. But, hey, at least we tried tonight, so we have 4-6 days (since most of us have deadlines around Jan 1) to deal with the issue.

did you try converting it into a PDF file? i had the same problem. [Create Adobe® PDF Online: Easily convert and create PDF documents](http://createpdf.adobe.com) will let you convert files for free…hope this helps :)

I converted my files to txt. format (I just deleted the .doc from the name and replaced it with .txt). Then I was able to upload.

I would recommend changing it from .doc to .pdf (google ‘gopdf’). I couldn’t upload the .doc after multiple tries but my .pdf went up fine.

In addition, a few things that helped when I couldn’t upload one of my essays

Keep the filename short (less than 10 characters), with no spaces or fancy symbols whatsoever. I fixed this and my essay FINALLY uploaded!

Convert to PDF!

Close all other windows and tabs on Ffox/IE or restart the browser/computer: could be a technical problem.

just a fyi guys, in most newer versions of word you have the option of saving as a pdf under file->save as
