Does anyone know a good college essay tutor in the Bay Area (more specifically Palo Alto)?

Ivywest has excellent college preparation tutors who work with students one on one. Hightly recommmend this company.

I took IvyWest and got a ~200 point from on my SAT I's.

Huh? a minus 200? sorry, what does that symbol mean in cybertalk?

I'd figure either about or approximately, and I'm betting that he's missing an important verb which is most likely increase in or something similar.

AH! Sorry! I meant to say that my score went down around 200 points (my bad!!) with IvyWest.

Was it just the writing score that want down? Do you know that many colleges are still not sure how to weigh the writing score, so it may not be as bad as it seems. Is your handwriting hard to read? This could have been a factor in your score. If the CR or Math scores went down, know that many colleges look at the SAT highest composite scores you achieved, not the latest scores. You may want to study on your own to bring up your scores. I would search CC past posts for the "Xiggi method" of studying for the SAT's.

note: those SAT programs are a complete waste of money. i went to one and they kept saying do this for math, do this for cr, go with your gut feeling, they're trying to trick you on vocab, etc...

second time i took the sat, i didn't care as much, was laughing with friends during the breaks - other people in the room must have hated us - didn't try to think that the test was tricking me, just did it my own way, i improved by over 100 points and broke 2300. i think this was because i was calmer, and also because i didn't listen to what the dumb sat tutor program told me. oh well, it was only $100, but i cry for those who are being ripped off by $500+
