Anyone in the Los Angeles CC District get their CAL GRANT?

i've only received my Pell Grants, but not even any mention about my Academic Competitiveness Grant or my Cal Grant-B. I go to LACC and the lines are ridiculous and they don't have a working phone number. Anyone have any idea what's going on, am i the only one getting screwed?

I went to Lacc too but unfortunately you don’t receive cal-grant in CC not much of a need for it.

You do however get it once you transfer so don’t worry your not getting screwed

really? I thought you had a choice between putting the Calgrants on reserve for until after transfer or just using them immediately? Did they tell u explicitly that u don’t get a Cal Grant?

I’m pretty sure Cal Grant B can be collected by CC students.

The question is, what advantages does “saving” the Cal grant until transferring do for us? We’d still get the same amount, no?

From fullerton college it looks as though you can keep it in reserve then request it when you transfer.

That odd though it said on mine for 09-10 when i was in CC that award type was "competitive " and wasn’t award with a 3.8 so iono how competitive “competitive” is. You can check webgrant to see if you qualify

Did ANYONE attending ANY CC get a cal grant for this year? This is starting to worry me.

@peter86 The academic competitiveness grant is a federal grant separate from the cal grant

I forgot to mention that actually you won’t be awarded a Cal Grant until the California state budget is finalized.

Quote from WebGrants:
“2010-11 Payments
2010-11 Cal Grant payments will not be made until the 2010-11 California state budget is passed and signed by the Governor.”

im over a month late for this thread, but i have all the same questions you guys do! all the people who work in the front of the financial aid office at elac are those people who are on on the federal work studies soo they can never help answer the questions i have!

so i was wondering about the acg grant…
poserbruin: hi i was wondering if your school awarded you w/ the acg grant? i filled out a verification paper for it and i know i qualify, but im not really sure if they will give it to me because im already receiving the pell grant and cal grant. so pretty much do they award you w/ the acg grant as long as you qualify for it? thanks (:

noregret: ive also wondered the same thing as you have. they awarded me w/ cal grant b so i took it, but ive read several posts that have said to save the cal grant until you transfer. Say i did save the cal grant wouldnt i only be eligible for only two years of cal grant money once i transfer?
