Cal Grant Reserve Question

I am a Transfer student for the upcoming Fall 2014 semester. I have been offered the Cal Grant A in my gift aid package from all the UCs I applied to (Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, Berkeley) which is about 12k for the 2014-2015 academic year. Last year I was awarded a Cal Grant A transfer entitlement which was put on reserve since I was still at a CC. The thing is that I had only had CSULB on file for my school choice that year and so I received the max amount for CSUs which is just over 5k.

My question is this: If I go to a UC will the award amount of the reserve Cal Grant be adjusted to the max for a UC (12k) or will it stay as that initial 5k that was awarded to me?

@theowlmoon You will be able to have it adjusted. You need to log into your account for CSAC on the web grants for students page to make the adjustment to the UC school you will attend. You simply go to the “Submit School Change or Leave of Absence” section to make the adjustment. I believe you would use the “Renewal” section since you’ve already been awarded a Cal Grant A last year on reserve. You can call CSAC to confirm 1-888-CA-GRANT or 1-888-224-7268. Renewal Students - You may submit a school and/or housing status change for next term. Please use theFuture School/Housing Change screen to make these changes. Hope this helps & much succes.

Oh okay I see that, thanks so much!

I too had a question, maybe somebody can shed light upon it. I applied through FAFSA, and the next day, I got info from UCLA, my provisional Award Letter, I just need to send him a couple more things. However, I am on CalGrants info, mygrantinfo, my Application Status is not updated nor do I have a CSAC ID: I applied last week, I was told, you have until September if you were a CC student. I see some things are verified, my GPA and whatnot. So, I am wondering, how long does it take for me them to give me some info, decline or accepted? Only reason, I ask, is because, if I get rejected, I have only May 15th to appeal by.

Are you applying for the Spring or Fall semester at UCLA

I doubt there’s such a thing as Spring admits at UCLA or any UC aside from Berkley

You’ll have to wait for June because thats when the Cal Grant award notifications are sent out.
