Are there any other students that don’t feel challenged at ECU? This is my second year at ECU and I am going into my senior year. I transferred from a top 20 public university because I couldn’t afford it. I was a B student there. I didn’t work and STRUGGLED to maintain a b average. lots of short answer and essay questions where you had to write out a whole problem and memorize formulas. You really had to know the material to pass.
At ECU I have a 3.88 GPA and was recently put on scholarship. I’m even working on average 50-60 hours a week at a job thats in my major. I really don’t feel challenged at all here. I am in the business school majoring in op/supply chain management. All my exams so far from accounting/finance to marketing is the same. 30 questions multiple choice with 3-4 extra credit questions… then a curve which adds another 3-5 points. Oh… and you get to have 1 notebook piece of paper PER chapter on the exam. So if the exam covers 4 chapters you get 4 pages of notes to write out front and back. We are always given study guides and links to past exams from previous years… the questions are usually the same just a different order. If you take an online course 15% of your grade is just saying “hey whats up” twice a week in an online forum. Just say something and you get a 100… but dont worry if you forget to post… you’ll get 2 of those dropped along with your lowest quiz and test grade. It just seems ridiculous how babied we are.
I’m sure the art, music, and medical departments are held to a higher standard. Just very disappointed in this business program.
I will graduate here because I just can’t afford anyplace else (ECU IS CHEAP!) and I don’t want to give up my job to relocate elsewhere. This business program can be SO MUCH better. I know I can’t be the only one that feels this way.
