I'm taking these classes in the fall with Manahan, Edmands, and Webb for Biology and Ransford for Sociology. If anyone knows about these classes, I would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me anything about them. What are they like? Hows the grading? Hows the workload? What assignments are there? Thanks.

I can't say anything about BISC-120 as I didn't take it, but I took SOCI-142gm first semester, albeit with Professor Emeka (Ransford was the other one).

The lectures can get tedious and long at times, but the materials covered are interesting provided you can follow along with sociology. The grading is completely subjective and depends on how good of a T/A you get as Emeka never graded anything. Our was really really generous (grade-wise), and the class was an easy A for me, but again that depends on which T/A you get. There is quite a bit of reading to do, but you can sort of B.S. your way through some of the assignments/quizzes, again depending on your T/A.

Again, I had Emeka and not Ransford, and from what I heard, Ransford was the harder of the two, hence (IMO) Emeka no longer teaching the course! Nevertheless, the class material is interesting, and it does satisfy the diversity requirement so I would recommend it based on my previous experience.
