Hello everyone.

I just checked my school account today. It says I was awarded only a Federal Pell Grant and NOTHING else. I did not get any federal loans or any other state, local or school grants.
I only received $2,600 total for the upcoming fall and spring semesters. This amount is based if I go Full time and not part time.

It does not make sense that I didnt get awarded any federal loans when I have received them in the past.

My questions to you all are the following is this.

1: Do you know why the financial aid department would NOT award me any Federal Loans?

2: Do you know from past experiences with yourself or with other why my aid was so low?

My EFC is 3078.

I’d call Financial Aid first thing in the morning.

You must be a transfer student, and that’s why your getting your letter so late? Good luck.

My EFC is 0 and apparently the only grant I’ve been awarded is the Pell grant, which makes no sense to me because I qualify for most of the grants that the school and the state of Virginia offers need based and academically. I’ve been emailing the Fin Aid advisor but hes been taking his time to reply to my questions partially, not very helpful so I’ve decided that I’ll go to GMU and see him in person.

I’m also not having any luck getting questions answered by my financial aid counselor. I suppose that making an appointment and going in is probably the best thing to do.

At our household we’ve simply made peace with the fact that GMU is probably not going to give us a decision before acceptances from other colleges arrive. Son sent in final spring grades over three weeks ago. No decision yet from GMU. We’ve already heard from one out-of-state university.
