Financial Aid

Anybody know what % of your Financial Need that GWU will meet?

I don't think it's a set %age, I think they put you thru some formula and give you a number.

i got my financial aid decision today. i got a $20K university grant and $7K alumni gift. they also gave about $4K in loans and a workstudy for $2.2K the latter of which my parents do not wish to take. it's a nice chunk off... anyone else hear yet?

have u already turned in your fafsa?

hope: could you give me your stats and you FAFSA EFC so I know where I stand? I'm so scared!

i dont know what my efc is. i do have a very bizarre financial situation though. very high home equity, very low household income. don't ask, you can't begin to imagine.
anyways.... my stats: 1270 sat1, 85.59 gpa
i am under the impression that i would have recieved the same financial aid whether i had a 1600 or not - this is need based not merit.

also we gave in the fafsa and tax returns were not yet submitted. they said the decision was based on the PROFILE responses and will be verified by them with the FAFSA and tax returns.

if my EFC was like $14,400 is going to GW even possible? considering it costs like $50,000....

50,000?? I don't think so. The most expensive school I've been looking at was 40,000 and thats Boston College. Unfortunately for me my EFC was $45,000 which doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks a ton Hope!

ahelk your efc is what the feds think your family can afford to pay for you going to college. You will definately get a ton of aid (probably tution minus the 14,400, around there).

Jewls- I know what you mean with completely unreasonable efc's. I'm freaking out.

i hope so!

my EFC was 3500. think ill get enough financial aid to afford it? with loans and the money i have saved up i could probably come up with 10K

psh...EFC of 40k? ours was < 3k. I don't think GW is a realistic possibility for me anymore, but whatever. I really don't want to take out a crapload of loans for a school that's so overpriced.
