My GPA is 4.77, but my UC GPA is only 4.23. What UC GPA is considered high enough to be in the top 5%? Also do you guys think they look at the fully weighted at all? I’m thinking what they do is just send off people with a minimum UC GPA and test scores over to the committee and the rest they don’t even consider. I hope I’m wrong. The reason why my UC GPA is low is because I took 6-7 a-g classes per semester all through high school. So, when averaging, after I add up all my class points, I then divided by a higher number. In 10th and 11th grade I took 26 semesters of a-g classes. The result is, though unfair, a lower UC GPA. I confirmed this with an online UC GPA calculator. Sorry for the long post, but I’m a bit discouraged.
Only UCLA and UCB use fully weighted non capped UC GPA but Regents is not necessarily just grades and test scores. Many Regent scholarship recipients have outstanding Leadership or EC’s. I do not believe there is a GPA threshold, it depends upon the competitiveness of each in-coming class of applicants.
