What does it take for Regents Scholarship?

Question above^. I'm basically seeking any merit-based scholarships for UCB and other UC's. It'd be great if you can give me the stats of those who received these scholarships. thanks.

My D was offered the Regents at UCB.

Stats:
3.95 GPA
2240? SAT (approx)
IB diploma
National merit scholar
Good ECs

It depends on each UC. My son had similar stats as above (not IB), but was only a spring admit at Cal and was invited to regents interviews at UCSB, UCSC, and maybe UC Davis. (Like labor pains, one quickly forgets the application process once completed!) Most of the kids I know who were invited to interview for Regent's at Berkeley and UCLA were straight A IB kids. I think on their website, it says the top 1.5% of applicants are invited to interview. (Don't quote me on that statistic- I haven't looked at it for a year or two!) At UCLA and Berkeley, I think the Regent's Scholarship may be tied to financial need. Everyone gets a little, but the only kids who get the maximum are the ones who need it. At some of the UC schools, they DO offer full rides. I know several who were offered full rides at UCSC and DAVIS. Usually, the max award is about 5,000.00, so while it's nice, it is not like a full merit award from a private school that is really trying to recruit for their incoming class. No one gets the Regent's without being the top of the applicant pool so pretty much around a 4.0 GPA and good SAT's, etc. The student has to stand out from the crowd! UC Riverside and UC Merced offer money to people with lower stats as they are still building their population and want to attract good students. At Berkeley and UCLA, the Alumni Scholarship goes hand in hand with the Regent's and kids are often invited to interview for both. UCLA and others also offer their University Scholarship (my son was offered 5,000.00 from a couple of UC's) which I guess is somehow tied to need, but I have no idea how on earth he qualified for THAT since our EFC was more than the COA at the school. I wish I knew more, but son had already accepted the full ride at USC by the time the Regent's interviews were scheduled so he did not bother to attend. Merit from privates often makes them less expensive than the UC/Public schools.

My daughter had similar stats to Kidx4, without the IB. She was offered a Regents at both of the UC's she applied to, San Diego and Santa Barbara. No interview was involved, though.
