I want to hear back already, though my friend got in like yesterday, not in top 10%, in state. I’m OOS, though, :(.

do you know what your friends stats were and the college they applied to? I’m also super anxious to hear back! Even if I get rejected, I’d rather hear that now

Woops, I posted in the wrong thread.

Noone that we know of at son’s hs has heard yet. We are anxioulsy waiting so that we can fill the 4 person suite (we’ve got 3 so far - all top 10%)!!

I would guess from past years that it could be a month or more before some hear, but maybe with the moved up deadline date it will be earlier? cross fingers!

^^Ag54 we are also hoping with the deadline moved up a full month that we will hear sooner rather than later…I know your son has already been accepted…what was his commitment deadline? It seems to me that UT would require the top 10%er’s to commit earlier so they would know who is coming for sure…any thoughts?

I think it was still May 1. But, honestly don’t think we even looked at it, we just paid the deposit and put it to bed. ;)

I’ll check on his status page and see if the information is still available. Just checked - yep, May 1.

People are on pins and needles around here, so, I feel your pain! Even the borderline future Aggies haven’t heard yet! Lots of shot nerves both in kids and parents!!

Does anybody know if the status is updated nightly at midnight?

ag54, You are so right. Thank God for auto-admit at A&M so at least my son has a spot there. His friend who was only TWO places out of the top10% still has not heard from either A&M or UT.

I know many top 10ers who applied to both UT and A&M just to put the decision off a while. That means half those spots will be freed up on May 2nd. Does anyone know of someone who was initially cap’d, but then admitted after May 1st?

IF UT has a wait list this year, students will be pulled from that. Non-waitlisted CAP student will not be admitted to UT for fall 2010. However, UT admits many more students than it can really accomodate (because they know that some accepted students will choose to attend somewhere else), so they may choose not to have a waitlist at all (or may not make it through the list if there is one).

All students who may be CAP’d should apply for scholarships and regular admission directly to the CAP schools to qualify for maximum financial aid.

Last year they had a wait list for the first time, but did away with the summer admit thing. I wonder if they’ll have one this year too. It makes sense because alot of top 10ers decide to go elsewhere.

I remember reading on CC kids who were admitted off the wait list. If I remember correctly it was late in May though.

^^ You are correct…D and I actaully looked back at old threads from last year to see if we could glean some info on when this all went down last year…D has several friends that are also waiting to hear from A&M…the wait is REALLY tiring…we just want to move on but can’t fully until we hear from UT :(

I just got accepted today to my first choice, Natural Sciences. I was a handful of people away from being top 10% but luckily got accepted.

Lockdown22- what were your stats? jw

Afriend of mine got into business today. Hes like 17%ish and got a 1410 sat

are people hearing back everyday now?

Lockdown22, congratulations!!! Were your SAT/ACT scores crazy-high?

They weren’t that great really. I got a 2070 on the SAT (650 M 700 CR 720 W) and I got a 32 on the ACT, but I couldn’t send in that score because I got it past the deadline.

My rank was 10 people off the top 10, but I took the hardest courses available. I had a really lackluster Freshman year (got C’s for semester averages, got kicked out of honors classes because of low grades, etc.), but after that I took school more seriously. I had an upward trend in grades, with more A’s than B’s overall.

I had around a 3.65 unweighted GPA by the time I sent in my application.

I also sent in an updated senior transcript, which showed me in the top 10% after the 1st semester. The UT admission page showed the change after I sent it, so while I know they didn’t do an auto-admit, they could have glanced at my senior year grades (Straight A’s in All AP/Honor classes) and factored that in my application.

My essays were decent, but nothing spectacular, ended up typing both on the deadline date… Hell, I sent in the application a few hours before the cut off time. EC’s weren’t that great either, just a few clubs here and there, nothing really great.

Also I was an instate applicant if that means anything.

Thanks! Very encouraging for my son. He sent his 32 ACT, but his rank is only 16% (hardest courseload tho). We will see…he put engineering first even tho he knows they most likely won’t take him. He put Chemistry second so that hopefully he could get in and then switch to Chem Engr without losing many credits. Interesting about that updated transcript…they aren’t “supposed” to help, but you never know!

Congrats again…enjoy it!!!

^Thanks.

Also to add, a friend of mine, also not in the top 10% was accepted to UT yesterday. I don’t know what college he applied to, but his SAT was similar to mine, and he had a lower (not significantly worse) GPA and class rank. He is involved in many extracurricular activities though.

Seriously… nothing new yesterday or today? Maybe they are only releasing new admissions one day per week?
