Anyone NOT in top 10% get into UT Austin?

If so can you please post your rank?

A friend got in being in the 18th percentile

yeah this one girl at my school got in last year and she was like in top 20% i dont know how that happened…

@applepie5712. Did she take any AP classes or have a really, really good SAT/ACT score?

My friend Amanda had a lot of APs (enough for about 25-30 credits at UT), but I don’t know about her SAT score. I know she’s bad at math though.

noo she was just average…but she had ALOT of extracurriculars and alot of connections. and she picked an easy major nutrional and food

^^^
I think think she did well on the holistic review that they use for non top 10% and they could tell after cranking through most of the top 10% kids that they wouldn’t have enough nutrition majors - so they told she was in right away. That’s great when you hear early.

@applepie5712. When she apply to UT? Just wondering. I applied on 12/1/09, and still haven’t had an admission given to me, yet.

lol sorry i have no clue im not really friends with her!

A friend of mine last year got in for Computer Science with a 2020 SAT and top 20%ish. He had just regular ECs and applied like two months before the deadline.

i have a friend, top 12% but a 35 ACT get in, but she applied early september. I applied mid-october, top 13%, 33 ACT and im still waiting. Im anxious/very nervous to hear back. Does anyone know when the people outside the top10% will start hearing? – I applied to School of Natural Sciences (Bio).

^ Sometime in March.

@Collegebound, one of my good friends had a 33 ACT and 2010 SAT 11% with some decent ROTC EC’s just got in.

any insight on someone trying to get into eduation
top 12%
28 ACT

I know a girl from my school thats in top 15% got into liberal arts sometime in january, and 3 people just got into school of fine arts this week (their ranks are all about top 20%).

Someone posted that a year ago this week was the week for many non-top10%ers to hear. Let’s hope they are on the same schedule this year! Even if the answer is NO it would be great to be done with it!

^^^I agree…just want my D to know so we can move on :)

It would be great if they released them this week, I can’t wait anymore! Something I noticed though is that most fine arts acceptances were released last week. Fine arts is a smaller school so I guess that’s why they heard early. I have a feeling bigger schools will start releasing a bulk of their acceptances soon (maybe this week?). So, I have a feeling that unless you are top 10%, a highly qualified candidate, or fine arts it’s not a bad sign that you havent heard anything… Just my thoughts.

anybody know when liberal arts applicants heard back last year date-wise? Thanks

we have waited this long 2-3 more weeks wont hurt lol
