I was reading some www.vault.com and they basically said the everyone in Northwestern played a sport in High School. Is this true? Does this explain the huge percentage of greek life?

haha...i think everyone i know played high school sports...interesting

u listen to mike and the mad dog in New Jersey? I love listening to the FAN!

Yeah It goes really far, nyyankees27 and we get YES so its all good. But alas, I don't play sports for my high school, I'm just a fan.

Thanks for the encouragment. What percentage of people there did play at least sport in High school? (just any onld guess, based on who you've encountered)

90% probably played a sport in h.s. I didn't and still got in.

This is thread is pretty silly... but I and most of my friends did not play any sports in high school.

my guess is if people werent doing sports in high school, they were doing shows :)

haha yup blueberry2! good point!

I think you just have a high % of people you played high school sports b/c you have a high % of overachieving people heavily involved in extracurriculars. But, you have to admit there are various levels of committment. For example, I played JV Softball my frosh and soph years and Varisity Swimming my soph-senior years. I am not that big of a sports person. The main reason I swam was because I liked how it got me/kept me in shape, the people were awesome, and the team was fun. However, I quit softball after my soph year mainly cause i didn't enjoy it at all. Although I played both sports, I wasn't a captain and I sure wasn't recruited for college or anything. I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more committed to music and waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more heavily involved in music. I was in like every music group at my school and held many leadership positions in them. Thus, the point of all this is: although many people played sports I really don't think it means NU is a jock school..........just a thought......i could be wrong. Also, I don't plan to continue sports in college (maybe intramural.....but nothing serious). I do however plan to be heavily involved in music and even hope to potentially double major in flute performance.
