So I was checking the status of my application materials and noticed the link for financial aid was there. Is this indicative of acceptance? Has anyone seen this link and subsequently been rejected? Conversely, did anyone who was accepted notice this link and if so, how long did it take for you to get accepted after noticing the link? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m wondering the same thing…I have a link to the financial aid system on my ‘app status’ page, but am still waiting for notification one way or the other. I called today to check up on the status of a letter of recommendation (which was key because it was an academic ref) that had been lost somewhere along the way, and was told that a decision had been made on my app and already sent out. Anybody have words of wisdom? I’m going out of my mind!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted - hope to join your ranks soon!

PS When I try to use the Financial Aid link, I get the ‘call your college’s fin aid office and mention Status 1A’ message…

If you guys mind me asking, what are your stats? I haven’t heard of anyone getting rejected for the fall 2010 deadline and was speculating that this week might be the week of rejections. :-(

Um, so I don’t know about you, but I’m finding this pretty stressful and trying to stay positive. I don’t think “week of rejections” is how this whole thing works - that’s not the spirit of GS as I’ve come to understand it. Best of luck to you.

It sounds like to me you don’t want to do with the reality of having both situations handed to you weather you get accepted or rejected. I believe you can remain positive but you can also be prepared for the fact that you might get rejected and prepare yourself for how to deal with that and I have. Columbia is definitely my number one school to get into and at first I felt like I would be heartbroken if I got rejected but then I thought well I can always reapply for the spring term and based on the administration’s feedback can improve my chances again.

I have my own speculations on what’s going on and I believe I have reasonable cause to why I could see this week where they are potentially going to start sending out rejections but I’m not too sure if you want to hear about the logic behind that. It has to do with simply looking at the process of how students are getting accepted and also comparing my own academic statistics to other people who have gotten accepted this year and have gotten rejected last year. Anyway, I’m not going to let it get my down if I get rejected because you can always reapply. I hope you find serenity in that and aren’t too upset if you happen to not get in.

I don’t know what’s going on and it’s driving me crazy. I submitted my application on time but had troubles scheduling the GSAE - I final exams with my other school and times conflicted. I called three weeks ago about the status and was told that my test essay was misplaced because my “R” looked like a “V” - go fig. Since that point, I called every three days about the status and was told no decision was made. Finally last friday, I was told a decision was made, and that I will get the notification some time this week. NOTE: When I said that I was calling about the status, the woman told me that she can’t tell me the results, she could only tell me if a decision was made. I am going to wait until friday afternoon and call again. It sucks because I have to register with NYU and pay my tuition bill for fall semester, but at the same time I want to wait on Columbia’s decision. And classes start in one month. I keep telling myself, if they rejected me, then I would’ve gotten the notice by now - it can’t be that hard to print my name on some form letter and mail it out the day after. And I live in NY, I would’ve gotten the letter by now. Trying to keep the faith here. Good luck!

Has anyone heard anything yet? Supposedly, the final batch of decisions are being sent out today.

I’m still waiting, too. I have the same problem as you with regard to registering and paying my tuition at my Plan B. This weekend will be a total nail-biter! Good luck you as well!

demobh83, do you see the financial aid link when you check you app status?

Yea, I did. It always showed on my login. However, I received the rejection notice this weekend. Good Luck.

demobh83,
Did they ever ask for your Spring 2010 term grades?

Thanks for answering my question about the fin aid link; sorry to hear about your letter, though. I’m still sweating it out here. Hope you have a good semester at NYU.

ayan613,
they asked me for my Spring 2010 grades, and I received my acceptance package last monday

Did they call you prior to receiving fedex package?

They asked for my spring grades which was a 4.0 (albeit only 12 units-not the usual heavy load I have per sem) and that kinda gave me hope. At least, they’re still considering me, right? However, having not recvd anything from them and when I called GS, the admin asst was not as forthcoming w/ her response, I took that as a rejection. I was just thinking that considering the 4.0 I earned for Spring, that would have at least, given me fighting chance. But it seems like everyone has recvd a phone call prior to acceptance package and I’m still waiting for…something.

How long ago did they ask for yr spring grades? Mine was requested first week of July which I readily furnished them with. I don’t know…maybe I’ll get something in the mail today.

I think it was the last week of June that they requested for my spring grades. About a week after sending it in I got a call to do an interview.

I received a call the about two days before receiving my package

Thanks for replying, jinukski!

yeah, it was about the same time that they did ask for spring term grades. I think i will be getting a rejection letter.

Anyone here knows how soon can an appplicant reapply after denial? Also if GSAE needs to be retaken? Any feedback is much appreciated.

I’m applying Regular Decision. I hope to be posting on here saying the same thing that you have because I’m already nervous and haven’t even applied yet. Hahaa
