To those applying for financial aid, has your financial aid portal been set up?

Yes. Mine just today.

I just got an email at 2:25am EST reminding me to apply for fin aid (I marked on the Common App that I was applying for FA but never got around to it…)

Anyone else in the same situation?

Does the FA email about checking financial aid documents have any correlation with acceptance to the school? Or is that email sent out to all the students that applied?

Thanks

@helicoptermom24 You read my mind, lol!! There is a thread on the NYU forum that found some sort of correlation between EA acceptance to NYU and a change in the financial aid portal before decisions were sent out. I am wondering if the same thing applies to Columbia. We’ll see. Good luck to both our kids!

I got an email telling me my FA application was finished and my portal has been set up for some time now.

lboss1223 That is exactly the email my son received yesterday. His portal has been up for a while too. Good luck!

My portal doesn’t work! When I click on financial aid, it directs me to a page where I have to enter my student ID, which I guess is different from the applicant ID I have. So I can’t log in…

@shelly318 Try the applicant ID where it says student ID. It may work then.

Nope, doesn’t work, I’ve tried several times. However, I called and they did say that all my documents have been received, so I guess I’m not worried.

Mine was set up a few days ago. If anyone has any insight as to if this has any correlation with admissions, please enlighten us! Most likely nothing to do with it, but you never know.

I recieved an email. I second ealdi94.

I think that maybe it directs me to the Student ID page instead of the Applicant ID page because I got a likely…Not sure though. And I doubt the financial aid timing has any correlation to admissions decisions. In fact, most have probably not been made yet!

It is about a month to the official decision notification date. Many many many decisions have already been made!

^ I second that. Many decisions must have been made by now.

But I don’t think the FA portal email has anything to do with admissions. I think every applicant received this email stating that their FA portal has been opened.

Also I faxed my father’s tax return to Columbia FA office twice on the same day but my status shows “not received” even now. Do you guys think I should fax them again?

If you faxed it a week ago and it still doesn’t show up as received, I would call them or email them about the potential problem before faxing another copy. It might take longer to process FA materials now too b/c everybody probably procrastinate and now are starting to get FA materials in and the Columbia staff is submerged in a sea of papers lol.

Best of luck.

I faxed them on Feb7 or Feb8!! I emailed them yesterday but haven’t got any reply:(

@shelly318 My son was also directed to the Student ID page. When he logged in as a first time user using his Applicant ID and date of birth, he was directed to another page which has a 2013-2014 Awards section. But there are no awards or financial aid listed yet. Is that what you get? Thanks.

After you log into the applicant page, there’s an option to enter into Columbia College/SEAS or the Financial Aid page.

1) Click the FA page
2) Type/paste in the Columbia ID
3) Password/Pin is birthdate (mmddyyyy)
4) Click documents on the top.
5) List of received materials
