Thank you for applying for financial assistance for the 2007-2008 academic year. This letter is to inform you of important additional steps you need to take.

You have begun the application process for need-based financial aid. Please complete the following.

You must verify your U.S. citizenship status. Please submit a copy of your US passport, birth certificate, or naturalization certificate. For additional information review the Citizen and Eligible Non-Citizen Verification form, available, if the Social Security Administration does not have a record of your U.S. citizenship status, you must contact that office and request that your record be updated.

*I became a US citizen couple of years ago.. Just out of curiousity, how many of you received this letter? Did financial aid select me to verify randomly? Or is it because I recently obtained my citizenship? Does it have any connection with my admission to USC? *

i got that letter, except mine wanted a couple other documents, including tax returns (which i already sent in so im confused why theyre asking for it)...i assumed they sent the letter to everyone after they submitted their fafsa/css but im not so sure now

oh ya i should add...mine asked for my tax returns and then my parents tax returns 2!

does anyone know when its due?
on mine unless im reading it wrong, it says like may 7th...so i think im gonna wait to c if im accepted first, i wouldnt wanna do that extra work for nothing!

I got that letter. They don't put a deadline on it if you're a new student at USC. If you're a continuing undergraduate at USC I think it's due May 4th, it says on the letter.

I have the same problem with residency stressedOut. The permanent residency papers are being processed by the USCIS/INS but I don't have a confirmation that they have approved it yet, so I'm basically screwed until the damn feds decide they want to process it and send it.

download that form in that page, fill it out and do/send them what they ask you for to prove your status. Hope you have a little bit more luck with this than I've had so far...
