either a revenge of the nerds reference or you go to one of the three schools where there is a tri-lambs. and fraternities will use women to make them look better.

I went through formal sorority recruitment at my school. Recruitment isn’t “fun,” but going Greek was the best decision I made, socially. “Rush” may be stressful and sometimes awkward, but joining Greek life is worth it.

At my school, guys do informal recruitment, meaning they hold a bunch of fun event- BBQ, sports, fantasy football etc- and guys only visit the fraternities they want to join. If you are just considering it, go. You can always leave/de activate. My sisters and I have been invited to fraternity rush events to help the fraternity, plus we get free food and stuff :).

Rushing for guys is a lot easier and less stressful. but glad to hear about your decision and that it has worked out well

All my Greek guy friends love Greek life. You truly meet people you would never have met had you not gone greek, and you meet lifelong friends. Additionally, the networking is fantastic, and many successful elites were Greek. Do it!

Ours is informal also. Every night is usually a BBQ, outdoor sports, poker, and slip n slide type of event and you just show up to the house and talk to people.

is there not a formal rush week for guys? at my school the first term is informal rush and the first week the second term is formal rush, with dinners and cocktail parties.

Yes there is. Its the week before they give bids out but right now it’s kind of informal where everyone is looking at the houses.

thats what i thought, i like that system, it gives time for guys to find their friends,

I already know the houses that I’m pledging but I still have to wait like two weeks from now for bid day. It will give me more time to get my name out to the brothers and everything but this wait is going to be rough.

just dont suicide rush, even if it seems like a sure thing, make sure that if you do want to go greek that you have another chapter you are interested in. too many horror stories to tell about this happening

I’ve rushed - with workers, marines, zerglings, photon cannons, or zealots. Personally it’s funnest with worker rushes. :)

Rushing with watch towers in AOK is also cool. :)

Yea I’ve looked at into a couple houses. I heard bad things about suicide rushing (mainly about sororities).

I found this article on gURL.com about rushing sororities. It was pretty helpful and answered some of my questions.

[fast facts: sororities at gURL.com](http://www.gurl.com/findout/fastfacts/sororities)

Purdue only has formal rush for sororities and they have to pay $150. There is no formal rush for fraternities and it doesn’t cost anything. The $150 that the girls pay goes to the chartered buses they have to bring the girls that are rushing, house to house.

Both guys and girls pay $25 if you register early and then it jumps to $50 the last week for any late registers for us.

^ pledging begins tonight

I rushed to the bathroom after eating too much sauerkraut with my steak. However, on a regular or habitual basis, not really; foresight tends to make rushing counter-productive.

^ I rushed out of our school’s kitchen the second day of my dining service job. Talk about a disgusting place!

I know the feeling; no wonder they have to force people to buy meal plans.
