Anyone see Avatar yet?

It was worth a watch with Imax 3D, but as many have said, other than the graphics/technological aspect of it, storyline/content was mediocre at best. It was also really long.

Saw it in IMAX 3-D a while back, but I was overall underwhelmed. Everyone else seemed to make it appear like some great epic. But, the storyline and themes were trite. Characters were typical and underdeveloped. Dialogue was boring.
The only redeeming aspect were the graphics, which I got lost in to in the beginning. But then I realized, I had seen it before on smaller scales in other movies. However, it was on a slightly grander scale which amplified its effect.
True, that the movie would have been better if made silent. I mean for all the time and money spent, I just don’t see the results besides the visual appeal. Some of which has been done before.

I saw it for the first time yesterday and I was very disappointed. “But, the storyline and themes were trite. Characters were typical and underdeveloped. Dialogue was boring.
The only redeeming aspect were the graphics” - my exact thoughts. How can a movie win a “Best Motion Picture” for visual effects alone?

Bleh. Avatar was pretty, but the story degraded quickly into a pure good vs pure evil showdown. Reaaaally got on my nerves.

Holmes was much better in terms of scripting, and not bad visually either  plus it was relatively canon.

You mean the movie about giant, native american smurfs?

I say “native american” because that’s patently what the story is based on.

^They were very subtle about it - “I see you”

First time I saw it at a local, run-down theater in 2-d for $6. Was good. Very good.
Second time I saw it at the Edwards IMAX cinema in 3-d of $9/10. I fell asleep in the middle of it. FELL ASLEEP.

Not a very good movie. 3-d was horrible. I thought there was going to be stuff popping out at me like at Universal Studios, but instead I just had an uncomfortable pair of glasses with barely noticeable 3-d effects.

I saw it today. Very nice graphics (and that’s an understatement). Thoroughly unremarkable otherwise.

I saw it in 3D (though not IMAX) and it had the same effects, though I was able to fight it off. The problem is that I blinked less and the 3D has a weird effect on your eyes. I thought the 3D was well done, though, enhancing the imagery rather than gimmicky popout crap.

screw Avatar…Pocahontas in Pandora

After watching that movie I had an epiphany about the meaning of life. I am currently writing a book about it, so look for it in Borders September 2011.

I enjoyed it.

I don’t know anyone who went to it for the plot.

i’ll probably wait till it comes out in the 1.50 theater around my town and then i’ll go see it.
