Okay we get it...you have a 1600 (or 2400 now) SAT, you have a 4.0 GPA...you've joined all the clubs...you're a minority. We get it...you're better than all of us. Stop posting your damn stats for constant reassurance that you're the best student in the world...you know you're going to get into your dream school, and most of us don't care. Is anyone else sick of these threads???? Just freaking apply to the school and see if you get in. Not even the perfect student has a definite chance, and none of us are admissions officers. Who cares what we have to say? pfft. CC is just another way for people to think they are better than everyone else. What happened to the simple questions like "How is the dorm life?" or "Should I take that Biology 1301 class that I heard was really hard?." Gahhh. Anyone else agree? People know what they need to do to get into a good college...JUST FREAKING DO IT and shut up.

And if u don't know what u need to do to get into the college you want to go to...you don't deserve to go there. it's common sense, people. end of story.

Well actually guys, I dunno...I mean the reason many of these people are posting is that, when you look at the official decisions threads on this site for the top schools...a lot of kids who have amazing grades, test scores, and extracurriculars get rejected from their top choices. honestly. i was looking thru the yale EA thread the other day and i saw some mind-boggling decisions that would throw off any motivated valedictorian with perfect scores. kids with 4.0s, many clubs, and SATs above 2200...it was crazy.
so don't hate on all the chancecrackers. i admit it, a lot of these folks ARE egotistical maniacs, but most are good kids.

I'm sorry Jimbob, your post isn't convincing. As I said before...and as u've just validated...nobody can predict whether or not a certain student will get accepted into these schools, so why even bother revealing all of your stats to random ass bloggers? All of it is a boost of the ego, and I think it's funny how people must turn to the internet for a gain in confidence. I'd completely understand if someone might ask "does so and so school put an emhpasis on college essays?"..."is this school known for rejecting those with low SATS," but when every post is:
SAT: 2400
GPA: 4.0 ...A in every class
Recs: Amazing
Essays: Amazing

What the hell are you supposed to say? I say, eat ****. Get your mom to pat you on the shoulder. :)

yeah i agree nothing on here is accurate and its just to make people feel better...why not though? its their choice to be naive and its our choice to avoid such threads like the plague

Haha, while I'm not as hateful, it is really annoying. We're not admissions people, and plenty of people with great stats will get rejected and plenty of "bad" people will make it in. So I don't see the point of asking.

i agree with jimbob1225 in that some people may just want some input having stats on the borderline of admission and having minimal ECs. this can be very stressful for students who want to get into their dream school and any reassurance would feel great. however, i will agree with you all in that it really angers me when people ask if their top "2-3%" rank along with their 2250 and never-ending list of ECs will get them into a school like northwestern.

Every single person on CC could say that you are going to get into a college and then you get rejected or vice versa. What people say on the threads mean jack. Pretty much everyone applying to the elite schools have good enough stats to get them in and they are obviously smart enough to understand that they are in the SAT range or whatever so it is just an ego booster to reassure themselves that they are so smart.

The more logical thing for them to do is look at threads where past accepted students have posted their stats and in addition to that start a prospective student thread where they all post their stats, so they all know where they stand. This would both A) be more helpful and B) consolidate it all into one thread.

what annoys me is that people still come on every invidiual university forum and post 'chances' when there is actually a forum on CC dedicated to those solely fishing for reassurance on their college apps...why not post there? And if we wont to tell you whether or not we belive you are a good fit (whic i dont know why some people care because we are NOT the admissions committe) we can post our opinions :)
