yeah since I did horrible on the SAT, I have to take both the placement test for the math and english..is anyone else in the same boat as me?

what was the conditions that exempt u from having to take them?

i think i passed it just barely..
my sat verbal was like 560 or smth, right on

i think the cutoff is around 1200, i got 1300 (650 on both) and i dont have to take it

the cut off is actually 1100..that means a 550 score on both and apparently I didnt score high enough on both, which means I will be taking both placement tests

I will be there on the 18th to take the math one, which I am sure I will easily pass. Luckily I scored 550 exactly on the critical reading portion of SAT, so I don't have to do the english one.

http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/testofc/FreshAdm.html
this page shows u the requirements

yeap I scored exactly 550 on the critical reading section too.. thank God.. i dont know what i'd have to do if i didnt pass 550..
i am an international student halfway around the world, so to fly there by may 1st and coming back again would be crazy

half-way around the world? where are you

thailand :D

i have to take the english one. what happens if u fail :s

im kinda worried as english isnt my strong suit.

It asks on the sdsu website:
3. Did you place in the "exempt" category on the Early Assessment of Readiness for College English taken in conjunction with the 11th grade California Standards Test in English Language Arts?

maybe it's b/c i transferred to a public school my senior year, but when i took the CST, i don't recall seeing a "early assessment of readiness for college english" portion. did anyone else take this?

Yeah, I remember taking it, it was 15 optional questions that were on the math and english tests. I don't remember ever seeing what I got on them though.

so i guess i have to take the english placement test just b/c i got a 530.
wait what if i scored a 550 in writing? shouldn't that at least count for something?

Alot of the people at my school took the early assessment back last year and passed. If they can do it in 11th grade, I'm sure nobody will have a hard time on the placement tests.

My SAT score were sufficient waivers to clear me from any further testing for SDSU, but I did look at the English part of the EA back during Star Testing and it had those grammer questions that I dislike greatly.

i have a 550 in critical writing which qualifies me and i dont have to take the english test but for some reason they emailed me and told me i still have to take it.

so whatever, i'm guessing it wont be too hard, i'll just register for it and take it on august 21, which is the last test on the SDSU campus.

critical writing? you mean critical reading?

ill probably brush up on my grammar skills before i take it.

yeap I meant the critical reading heh..
well today the international student advisor emailed me back
she checked with the office of admissions, and they told me to sent my may SAT scores to SDSU again.

should i sent it online, electronically? takes about 3 weeks, but its safer since its online

or

rush report? its only two days, but its on paper. I already sent rushed report once during january to SDSU.. maybe they lost it or smth thats why

ok collegeboard is really dumb. i sent a rush report and 2 months later the colleges hadnt received it. it was weird but i guess if u get mad at em it will go faster.

i think i will sent the online way, so it takes 3 or 4 weeks to go through,
but it will be in time for the may 1st date. then at that time they can check again, if they still dont allow my 550 critical reading then i'll just register for the test at aug 21st. no biggie, since i should be able to pass it easy.
