OK I think I just made up my mind (for now) that I will turn down Yale for Duke. I thought people at my school (fairly elite and status=college) would think i'm crazy for turnding down Yale, but the response was generally Duke = Yale on academics and grad school. What do you guys think?

personally, I'd prefer Duke over Yale too.

I agree, I'd prefer Duke over Yale. I know you don't want people to think less of you for choosing Duke or whatever, but there are more reasons to it. I know I'm going to a college that won't make me happy now, but will in the future. As long as you're content with your decision, that is all that matters. So dont stress it! Just be proud you got in to those schools!

ok, i was a psych / econ major back in the day. What your post leads me to believe is that YOU (YES YOU!) that is concerned about the decision to choose Duke over Yale. Ultimately, asking whether others think you are crazy is a way for you to discern for yourself if choosing Duke is a crazy decision. At the end of the day, go with your gut feeling.

I like Duke better. It's more beautiful, is in a better urban area, and has better weather.

i wouldn't say duke is in an urban area, northstar.

and i would definately say whatever area most places are in are better than new haven.

that aside, rory goes there...and who doesn't have a crush on her?

To me, they are equal in quality and prestige, so you should pick based on personal preference. Don't let people make you doubt yourself.

i personally would've gone with yale, but you can't go wrong with either of these two. they are peer institutions in almost every way academically, and duke has way better basketball.

Yale might have slightly better prestige, but they are both Ivy League so it must be very very hard for you to choose. Disregard academics (as they are both excellent) and base your final decision on personal preference, the athletics avaliable, social life, etc...

romile:

Duke is in the Atlantic Coast (athletic) Conference, not the Ivy League (athlectic) Conference. (Coach K would have loved to played the Ancient Eight this year. hahaha)

Duke is NOT......NOT....Ivy league, although it is on par with most of them :)

Oh ok sorry, my bad, since it is at the same level as many of them I just thought it was.
