Anyone took writing 30 or 31?

If so please tell me about it. Is it necessarily easier and less work then 39C? is it true you must earn a minimum grade in order for it to count for the writing requirement?? Thanks in advance.

I know this isn’t what you asked, but…you should check out humcore: <a href=“EEE+ Home | UCI”>EEE+ Home | UCI;

It fulfills several of the GE requirements besides writing.

humcore blows.

there’s no rush to graduate (unless you want to). i took beginning poetry writing (i think writing 30) over the summer. fun class, and even though poetry isn’t my strong point it wasn’t bad. enjoyed the class even though no one in the class got an A…(i got an A-).

i have writing 31 right now and i really enjoy it. it definitely seems like less workload than 39c, and more fun too. it really depends on your teacher for grading and homework, but for me, it’s basically reading a short story -> letter of response (per class). big grading stuff: short short story, short story first draft, short story final.

though, if your major is something that is going to require you to write a lot of research papers… i definitely recommend taking 39c

^Will that include an engineering major you think? Would 39C come to use in my future?

hey jennifer7 or anyone else who have or is taking 30/31,

I know there is a date for the final listed on webreg, but I was wondering if there actually IS a final?

I ask this because last quarter for my writing 39b we had a date for the final, but we didn’t have a final. (we had a final project, but it wasn’t on that day).

Oh, and who is your instructor jennifer7?

for us, our final paper (short story) is due on the last class day of week 10. i have laura hogan. i think she grades fairly difficult for an intro class :frowning: creative writing is definitely more fun than 39c, but dependent upon your teacher i wouldn’t say necessarily an easier A. grading is so much more subjective and there is no list of criteria that you could follow to make a “good” story like you could for a good paper in 39c

and SheerReflection i do think that research would benefit your major… i think that research writing benefits most majors (except mine… studio art haha)

i would like to clarify that i think my teacher said before in the beginning that she rarely gives out As…
