Anyone Watch Bedford Diaries on WB?

It's still early, and with the exceptional and proven creative team ("Homicide") behind it, it was IMHO not worth the time; the "Sopranos" repeat was more involving on HBO. For another view of the current campus culture by adults long since out of college, Tom Wolfe did a more acceptable job with "I Am Charlotte Simmons" than Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson have done so far with this show. Maybe it would work more effectively on HBO where they did so well with "Oz"?

I didn't like it much either, but I'm not sure that the target audience won't find it compelling. Which worries me, because it seems to be glamorizing some pretty unhealthy behavior: The "nice" boy wakes up with a stranger at the beginning of the show; his high-achieving sister is getting over an affair with a professor; there's a virgin who acts like a slut, etc. I was particularly uncomfortable about the girl who had tried to kill herself: On the one hand, it's appalling to see a group of boys making fun of her; on the other hand, I don't particularly like to hear someone saying craziness is "hot." I don't know where they're going with the various sub-plots, but the pilot left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard enough to be a teenager without getting the message from a group of good-looking actors that it's really sexy to be neurotic.
