Anyone who got accepted !?

Hi, I'm senior in high school who's ready for the first year of the college.
Since I was very unsatisfied with my college selection and decisions due to
my low GPA, SAT scores, and little extracurricular activities, I would like to
try once again with trasferring in sophomore year.(I'm gonna apply in my freshman year)

My high school GPA is about 3.6/4.0
SAT score is about mid-1900.

If there's anyone who got accepted by UMAA, I would like to ask you for sharing ur
stories or your scores, GPA, etc. I just wanna get info about how you did so that
I can get some sense of applying as transfer. I'd like to major psy.

I will really appreciate your help.

Your stats sound pretty much exactly like mine - when I applied to UMich as a first-semester senior (in-state, from Ann Arbor) I had a 3.56 GPA and a 1910 SAT/28 ACT and no real extracurriculars. I was deferred–>waitlisted–>rejected.

Transferring is a great idea, and I would absolutely encourage you - but my best piece of advice is to APPLY FOR TRANSFER AS A JUNIOR! UMich specifically states that they give preference to junior transfers. I, with pretty much identical HS stats as yours, applied hoping to transfer in my sophomore year, winter term - with only 24 credits, 41 pending - and I was rejected and pretty explicitly told that it was because my lack of many college credits meant that my HS stats were weighted more heavily, and they weren’t good enough to get me in the first time. However, when I reapplied for junior year transfer, fall 2011, with 41 credits/56 pending, I was accepted. This situation is not unique to me, either - judging by the University of Michigan transfer thread on College Confidential and the word of mouth from friends I know who tried transferring, almost everyone who applies for sophomore transfer gets rejected.

Transferring is a great route, and if you have a pretty strong GPA and LOTS of credit hours, you’ll likely get into UMich as a junior. My best advice, from experience, is not to waste the $60 app fee this time around and wait until you are a sophomore. Good luck!

gotransfer, what was your college gpa when you transfered?
